C-span Q: Why is a state-owned Co from UAE OK, but not Venezuela?
The person (R.G. Edmonson - Journal of Commerce, Wash. Bureau) on the show had no answer to that question - why it was OK to do business with a state-owned UAE company but having state-owned companies from Venezuela is bad, bad, bad.

I thought it was an interesting point.

1. I thought Citgo did lots of business in the US
Certainly state governments are working with it over fuel for the poor.

2. Venezuela = Democracy. UAE = Monarchy.
Sure they call him the 'president' but he was appointed by the supreme council and was the crown prince.

Face it. Bush hates democracy.

4. Because breeding speaks to breeding and royalty understand one another
the state owned company in UAE is in fact a royal monopoly. The Bush and his cronies sympathize with this case because that is exactly what they are trying to create here, in all but name. When however the government of Venezuela nationalizes the coffee industry, not that Venezuela is known for its coffee, or something else, it does so democratically, in the name of the people and with the purpose distributing the profits of said industry broadly to the many small producers who actually grow the coffee, instead of allowing parasitical middlemen to absorb all the possible margin of profit (which in the present situation of the coffee world, is very slim to start with).
