Will the White House spin work with the UAE deal? |
|
We've all seen things like this before--the administration does something outrageous (like domestic spying) and comes up smelling like a rose. It usually takes three to four days for Rove and his buddies to spin their magic, but they usually succeed somewhat. The first barrage of spin is not very effective (The Dubai company has been completely investigated, the UAE is an ally, it would be "racist" to withdraw the deal, etc.) What do you think they'll come up with next and do you think the spin will work this time?

1. There will be the usual spinning and the arm twisting of congress |
|
but I am not so sure this will come up roses. There is too much manure in this story and the stink has even the cons upset.

2. I think it depends a lot on the media - |

If they aid and abet the WH as usual, it may work. If they don't and go after what's really going on here, no.
Another thing to consider - repug senators up for reelection are speaking out against it (probably because of constituent outrage).
The WH may have gone too far this time.

3. Good point. about the coming elections... |
|
But didn't Rove et al. convince the GOP not to investigate the domestic spying issue by threatening to cut off funds for those campaigns?
