Cal Thomas on the Ports Deal
Cal Thomas, conservative Pundit, comments on the Ports Deal.

There have been some dumb decisions since the United States was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, including the "welcoming" of radical Muslim groups, mosques and schools that seek by their preaching and teaching to influence U.S. foreign policy and undermine the nation. But the decision to sell port operations in New York, Newark-Port Elizabeth, Baltimore, Miami, Philadelphia and New Orleans to a company owned by the UAE may be the dumbest of all.

. . . Congress must stop this sale of American ports to foreign interests and, in an era of terrorism, prevent any more potential terrorist targets from falling into the hands of those who wish to destroy us.

For those curious here are some other Thomas Quotes.

In response to situation in Britain.

Here's what Blair should say to the Muslim leaders: "The onus is on you guys. You find and shut down the terrorists and their network. You turn those who incite, plan and encourage violence over to the authorities. If you don't act, we will by closing and bulldozing the mosques and schools that incubate and instruct the killers, prosecuting the terrorists we find and deporting them and their clerics, and closing our borders to anyone from countries that harbor and teach terrorists. Those who are British citizens will be stripped of their citizenship."

and on the basis of the War on Terror.

There will be no detente, entente or peace treaty between the forces of darkness and those of light. As much as Western politicians may wish to avoid the true root cause of this war, they do so at the peril of their citizens. This is a religious war. The terrorists understand it as such. Too many in the secular and wimpishly religious West do not.

Something to considert.

2. Me too. He's not very smart.
He panders to the stupidest of the right-wing base.

4. First time I ever heard of Cal Thomas was during Gulf War I.
Read a piece where he was advocating the use of targeted nukes. I was young and not very political then. It was really my first exposure to rightwing insanity. I don't even think I fully understood 'left wing/right wing' or the political philosophies each represented. I just knew this guy was off his fucking rocker.

6. We on the Left don't have to do a thing on this issue
Sit back and watch the xenophobic crowd of the amen corner come into direct battle with the what's in it for me crowd. When Cal Thomas, Sean Hannity, and the rest of the whackos are foaming at the mouth over this, we just let them go even further insane, the difference being that their insanity is directed at Chimpy McCokespoon.

Watch and enjoy. Also, learn from the loony bin a little bit about tactics, if you can. What works, what doesn't work, and what sorts of ravings persuade their base?

7. That's my argument too
I'd guess there's a good chance Ann Coulter's next piece will be on this too. And yeah, better to just let them duke it out rather than try to make it a left right deal.
