Angry Letters to Bush from now-ex-Republicans. Vol II.
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 12:28 PM by Sugar Smack
"Subject:
american ports

To:
President George Bush

February 22, 2006

Dear President Bush,

How could you do something so Un -American as practically giving away our ports. I can not be believe that you would do this. I can not believe you did not know what was going on. How could you be so unpatriotic.

I am a 74 year old live long Republican. I can not deal with this and I am now turning into a Democrat. I will be a gung-ho, vocal one as I once was for the Republicans.

I know how all America must feel, they must feel the same feelings of betrayal as I do.

peoria , AZ"

These are gleaned from Congress.Org.

"To:
President George Bush

February 22, 2006

I AM FURIOUS THAT WE HAVE BEEN SOLD OUT BY BUSH. WE WENT TO THE POLLS UNDER THE MISTAKEN IMPRESSION THAT HE CARED ABOUT US AND OUR SECURITY AND NOW WE KNOW THE TRUTH HE IS ON THE SAME SIDE AS JIMMY CARTER!! CRAZY. HE IS NOTHING THAT HE CLAIMED TO BE AND I AM ASHAMED. THIS IS SOMETHING I WOULD NEVER HAVE DREAMED I WOULD BE SAYING. THE MANIC ACTUALLY HAD THE GUTS TO SAY I AM A BIGOT BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT THE COUNTRY. DOES HE NOT UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UAE AND ENGLAND? IF NOT IMPEACH HIM NOW. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE ONE TIME HE IS WILLING TO USE THE VETO IS NOW!! NOT WHEN WE ARE OVERSPENDING, BUT NOW! I WILL NEVER AGAIN VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN IF THEY ARE SUPPORTED BY YOU. SO WHERE DO I GO? I GUESS I WILL NEED TO START LOOKING FOR INDEPENDANT CANDIDATES. BUT I NOW KNOW THAT YOU REALLY DO NOT CARE AND I HAVE A FEELING MORE OF YOUR CRAZY POLICIES ARE TO COME SINCE WE WENT TO THE POLLS TO ELECT YOU AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EVER BE RE-ELECTED AGAIN. I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT LATELY. YOU CERTAINLY FOOLED A LOT OF PEOPLE. CONGRATULATIONS

5. Just got back from the other thread...
"Freepers head explodes" one.

And, uh...
Well.
I...I, uh, never visited their site before.
So, what I read...kinda disturbed me.

Apparently they...I don't know how to say this...
Apparently they believe Bush is "smart" and has some "tricks up his sleeve" regarding the UAE deal.

Um.
"Smart."

I have a dog. His name is Percy. He is by no stretch of the imagination an "elitist." Even he thinks Bush is light-years from "smart."
And Percy eats his own shit.

So, thanks (I guess) for directing me over there.

Gotta go cry now.

98. Only the most iron-gut, masochist can visit "there" more than once....
or twice.

A couple of recommendations....steel wool and bleach will take the stains from your eyes, but unfortunately not your soul.

That requires straight liquor and most likely some illegal substances. Confession is also good, if you are of that persuasion. Therapy, fight clubs or yoga work for the rest of us.

Now you know the stove is Hot. You won't touch it again. Life is full of those hard lessons.

Welcome to DU.

The first time I ever looked at that site was when Alan Keyes disowned his daughter for coming out as a lesbian.

I cried at the hatred spewage for two days.

Now I know better how to approach the site, but I still don't make a habit of it.

You gonna be okay?

164. Don't forget Carter lost the election because of PANAMA CANAL!
It was closer than you think, and the canal issue swayed a surprising number of "Reagan Democrats" to become "socially conservative Republicans" who decided the "Democratic Party elitists" had betrayed them when they sold the Panama Canal. One of those issues with incredible staying powerfor a great many Americans, beyond all reason. This is a nice counterbalance to that. If the pink tutu's don't understand that, too bad! :D

Homeland Security/ Dubai Corp./Ports deal

"To:
President George Bush

February 22, 2006

Homeland Security my ass! Your handing the terrorists our beloved country carte blanche through this Dubai/American ports deal and our open, understaffed borders. Your want of "free trade" will kill us and our open understaffed borders are giving our country away to the hundreds of thousands of Mexicans you are letting in. I voted for you but I'll be glad when you are out of office because you are now doing much more harm than good.

4. Me thinks
some serious effort should be make to tie all the republicans in the house and senate as close to bush as possible. It should be that you can't even think republican politician without bush, bush and more bush popping into the voters heads. This will help win over some voters like these guys. I believe they are mad at bush, but these people probably won't fully convert into democrats in the long run.

Homeland Port Sell Out

To:
President George Bush

February 22, 2006

Dear President Bush,
Well, it is apparent that you are not running for re-election !!!! I guess you no longer care what your supporters think. Your statement that you will veto any attempt to stop the sell out of the United States port to an Arab owned company proves that !! I have always been a loyal supporter of you and of the Republican party, but this veto statement and your CAFTA agreement have proven to me that your agenda is far more important than the security of the American people or the security of my job. I can assure you that I will not be supporting the Republican party in the future. I may not like the Democrats or their politics but at least there will be numberous welfare programs in place when I lose my job to India !!! And as for your sell out of our ports, you are giving away the keys to the chicken coop, let the fox do his worst !!!! There will be no one to stop him !!

All of this outrage is useless, unless Republicans in Congress and the Republican Party are joined at the hip with Bush. Democrats need to be screaming that the Republican Congress has given George W. Bush so much power, and Republican politicians are no different than Bush.

it seems lots of people aren't going to be voting republican. I'm just worried this will make the republicans look like saviors. Like they'll act tough and macho on security, do a bill, go up and "talk" to Bush and come out "victorious" and Bush will sign the bill just like with McCain's torture bill.

I cannot express STRONGLY enough my extreme opposition to the "sale and control" of U.S. port operations to any state-controlled, i.e., U.A.E., entity!!! At 58 years of age, I've ONLY participated in the last 2 presidential elections wherein I voted a straight Republican ticket, because I sure didn't want democrats "selling our country down the river". NOW, I see the President trying to do that same thing! This "transaction" should be rallied AGAINST, by both sides of Capitol Hill and should be relegated to the file of "totally insane propositions that should have NEVER been proposed"!! I will be watching CLOSELY how elected Republican officials will be positioning themeslves and voting on this issue and can ONLY hope that their "sanity" will, in the end overrule the "insanity" of compromising our country, any further, to foreign interests. I would REALLY hate to vote against Republicans on ANYTHING, BUT, if this deal goes through, I will be compelled, as a matter of STRICT CONSCIENCE, to rethink that position in future elections.

Sorry to say it, but this decision renders you the worst president ever to lead the US. Your adolescent "it's my football and I make the rules" brand of leadership, based on Christian faith, has done nothing other than resurrect the Crusades! It's us against the nation of Islam - one fanatic group against another. We cannot win, and you are now opening our ports to a deceitful enemy nation that would love nothing more than to see the death of all infidels (Fyi, that means the US!).
I voted for you because Gore and Kerry were such absolute lunatics, but now I see that you are no better than they, except in your ability to dissemble and appear reasonable.
America desperately needs a viable third party from which to chose its next Chief Executive!

There have been many times when my "hat" has been off to the Honorable President, George Bush.

Lately though, despite the fact that Kerry would have been a worse option, I have wished I could have rescinded my vote.

I felt it would have been so easy to modify, with the congress willing, the need to get a court order to listen in on suspect conversations to having begun the process being sufficient with reasonable doubt or suspicion that someone was involved is suspect behavior. This could have been a way to prevent some future dictator from citing a precedent to sweepingly illegal things.

George W. Bush,

Are you seriously going to turn our Ports over to outside nations? How many jobs will you kill by arranging this deal? You refer to this as a "Transaction" so how much do you stand to make from the Arab deal. How can you sleep at night? How can you turn the keys of America over to a KNOW TERRORIST RELATED alliance? You care NOTHING ABOUT AMERICANS and would give our jobs to Arabs. You could be putting Katrina survivors to work but you would turn you back on them. You are to worst president this nation has ever had. You are Power Hungry and you refuse to keep your word. New Orleans is STILL IN RUNIS even after you stood in Jackson Square on live nationwide Television and promised to make New Orleans better than before. Why are New Orleans natives being turned out into the cold? FEMA is not helping by kicking them out of the temporary housing. When will you do something to HELPO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? This Port deal will make you happy! I bet your Bank will be happy too. Sir, BE A PRESIDENT LIKE Pres. Regan and do some good for the American People. Right now I'm sorry I ever voted for you.

When I heard that the Bush Administration endorsed the sale of major US Ports under Arab ownership I genuinely felt: 1.) Angry as an American who, after 911, relies on MY Government to protect our families from those outside the US who wish us grave harm; 2.) Suspicious that those in the US with close political and financial ties to Arab nations are benefitting from this atrocity; 3.) President Bush is asleep at the helm if this sale actually occurred without his personal knopwledge and 4.) After having loyally voted Republican for 34 years across all local and federal ballots, my days as a Registered Republican have come to an end.

Now, I am a hard working upper middle class father of two girls and who can be characterized as among the "Silent Majority". President Bush and his Administration should realize that this is an issue where people like me, who NEVER write letters to legislators, become infuriated and motivated to voice both disappointment and displeasure. I respectfully request and hope the Democratic legislators and leadership who represent Florida will work diligently toward uncovering what's behind this unconscionable event.

U.A.E. Port Deal

To:
President George Bush

February 22, 2006

Dear Mr. President,

As a life long republican and a strict conservative, I strongly urge you to rethink your position on the U.A.E. port sale.

Do you really want to go down in history along side former Presidents Jimmy Carter, who gave away our Panama Canal, and Bill Clinton, who sold the canal anchor ports to a front company for the Red Chinese army?

TO GO THROUGH WITH THIS DEAL IS POLITICAL SUICIDE FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND A SELL OUT OF THE UNITED STATES!

I understand that the U.A.E. will not control the securtiy of the ports they will own. However there is no way to check every container that off-loads and the simple fact is that the U.S. can not trust the U.A. E., supports of Jihad, terrorism, and extreme Islam to ever be a true ally of the U.S. They will use this port position to further their cause which is the destruction of Israel and the U.S.A. THEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED WITH THIS POWER.

If you choose to go through with this deal it will confirm your detractor's theory that the Bush Administration is 'in bed' with the Arab states for monetary gain. And I for one will be through with the Republican Party in 2008.

I can assure you that I will not be supporting the Republican party in the future. I may not like the Democrats or their politics but at least there will be numberous welfare programs in place when I lose my job to India !!!"

So we evil Democrats, with our welfare programs, are suddenly going to be ok, when the people who have always demonized them are affected by their little twit's selling of America to the highest bidder. It's a pity they didn't have any compassion before, but this is going to hit THEM, so it'll be different. How typically Republican.

Actually saw one of 'em say almost exactly those words.

Must be nice to be so myopic. And they never realize that voting republi-CON is what gets us into this shit to begin with. Mr. President, I voted for you because I thought you were the best choice to lead our country against the war on terror....please do not disappoint me and the millions of Americans who voted for you. Please stop this unbelievable action before it is too late. As it is, only about 6 percent of cargo entering this country is checked...please don't make it any easier for terrorists to ship nuclear weapons or chemical weapons into our country. This port management deal takes the cake. You are without a doubt the stupist person to ever sit in that office. I am sure you never heard of the deal until some reporter told you but there is no doubt Cheneys buds will make a mint on it. shame ON YOU FOR BEING AN IDIOT AND STAYINg IN AN OFFICE WAY ABOVE DOG CATCHER.

Dear Mr. President,

I am but one person, one citizen of the United States. I made a decision to vote for you during your re-election campaign and I am writing to tell you that I am tragically sorry that I did.

While my nature is to gather information and make my most informed decision possible, it is absolutely undeniable that this country's citizens - republican and democrat alike are disappointed, frustrated and in complete disbelief with regard to a significant number of decisions you and your administration make. I am 39 years old and do pay attention to the state of affairs in this county - and I have to say that I cannot recall another administration with so many incredulous decisions and positions. I just cannot fathom how the administration can hold their head high, and arrogantly I might add, in the face of decisions that clearly are effecting the heart and soul of every citizen in this nation.

I respectfully request that you and your administration give more consideration to your decisions going forward as well as take immediate action to do the right thing with regard to decisions that can be changed. i.e. the port deal

THIS IS ANOTHER ATTEMPT BY YOUR ADMINISTRATIONTO FORCE SOME UNDER THE TABLE DEAL DOWN OUR THROATS.
SURELY YOU WILL AGREE WITH ME THAT AT THIS TIME IN OUR HISTORY WE SHOULD BE KEEPING OUR PORTS,AIRPORTS AND MAJOR HIGHWAYS WITHIN OUR CONTROL. AT THE STATE LEVEL WE WOULD SURELY TAKE THE BRUNT OF ANY ERRORS MADE AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL IF SOME SORT OF BREACH OCCURRED. IT WOULD ALSO SEEM THAT THE PRESIDENT SHOULD SUPPORT AN AMERICAN COMPANY TO ALL SUCH MANAGEMENT. IF YOU GUYS WOULD COME OUT OF YOUR VACUUM AND PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOUR VOTERS WANTED, NOT WHAT KING GEORGE DEMANDED, YOU WOULD STOP THIS INSANITY AND TAKE CARE OF AMERICA.

I just have a sick feeling in my stomach about this port issue. For me, this could be the straw that breaks the camels back. I have tried to stick with you through the Iraq war, but I really think time will show they do not have the internal compass to lead them to a functioning democratic society.
I have never gotten over "read my lips, no new taxes" from Bush 1, and I am fast losing confidence in your leadership.

February 23, 2006

Dear Sir,
I have voted Republican in every election since I was old enough to vote. I am now 50. Consider this my official withdrawal from the GOP. I will seek to join an independent party. George Bush's presidency, which began with so much hope, has degenerated into a debacle exceeding Cintonian proportions.

George Bush is either an idiot, surrounded by idiots, or he is a corrupt man, surrounded by corrupt men and women. There is no middle ground. He has killed thousands of young men and women in a war begun under false pretenses, and now lacks the character to admit he was wrong and bring them home. The only people benifitting from this war are munitions suppliers, big businesses and the Arab/Muslim extremists, who hate us and are happy to have us blunder to aid their efforts to have the Arab/Muslim world see us as the "Great Satan". The Iraqui people are incapable of sustaining a democracy. They can't get along with themselves, let alone the rest of the world.

The latest horror of the Bush presidency is the sale of Major US Ports to an Arab company. First he says he is unaware, then he supports it. The fact that there are Bush administration ties to other sales to UAE reeks of cronyism.

George Bush is unwittingly paving the way for a 3rd Clinton presidency……Hillary's. The day she is inaugurated, I will find a new country to live in….Canada, the Bahamas, Belize. This is not emotion, it is fact.

Check out my voting record: Paul Marcus Cormack, Jr. life-long Republican. I am now joining the cry to Impeach George Bush. The fact that I had a part in electing this man twice makes me physically ill.

I have NEVER written anything to a President before, but, I guess, there's a first time for everything.

I am a 56 year old female who has raised my son, basically, alone. I live in an apartment where my rent in July will exceed $1000. per month. I make $11.00 an hour. I have NO HEALTH INSURANCE! My son started college this year and we were DENIED financial aid.

Please, please, please, tell me WHY we are spending BILLIONS and BILLIONS of MY dollars to blow up and rebuild Iraq's country, not to mention, killing INNOCENT people when we, supposedly, have NO $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to care for our own people. This is incomprehensible to me. Why do we have people eating dog food because they cannot afford basic nutrishional food?

WHY are we spending all this money to blow people up and then spend all this money to cater to their medical needs??????? WHY is it that I had to spend $80 last night just to walk into my doctor's office? I MAKE $11.00 AN HOUR! NO HEALTH INSURANCE, A SON IN COLLEGE WITH NO FINANCIAL AID!

Please, please, explain your justification for your actions.

I voted for you twice. In my opinion, maybe, the fornicator, President Clinton, should have stayed in office.

My real belief is that if women ruled the world, there would be NO WAR. What mother would send her son to be murdered for some silly man's machismo?

I am a total isolationist. Who elected us as the world's police? Let us spend our BILLIONS protecting our borders and caring for our own people.

Our founding fathers never had this in mind.

Have you read John Adams by David McCoullogh?

If not, you should.

I expect, no, DEMAND an answer. YOU represent ME.

Between Your man Mitch and the Indiana Toll Road contract to another country, and you scheme; my money will be switche from our Republican Party to the other guys next year. Wise up.

Dear President Bush,
I have a lifelong Republican and a stauch supportor of everything you've done...until now! I just cannot believe you will stand by and allow our ports to be run by Arabs! What are you thinking?!?!??! What good is the war on terror if you turn our ports over to the very people who trying to kill us. As far as I'm concerned, all our soldiers who have died in the middle east, will have died in vein if you allow this to happen! What's next, maybe we can sell our airports off to Arabs as well! I am stuned and apalled by this and extremely disappointed in you!

Dear Sir,
I voted for you because I believed you would make good decisions for the good of our country. Now I am having second thoughts, and so is the rest of my family. We were all Republicans, but we do not support your "yes" vote on this issue.
My ancestors came over on the Mayflower, but I think they would have jumped ship if they knew this is what was going to happen.
I think this is a foot in the door for the religion of Islam and for the Muslims-Please re-consider and stop this action before we all live to regret such a vote. Thank you.

"I am sick of this CRAP! It is just about time for a bunch of our Public Servants to be forced to come clean. Not only but especially the Senate Intelligence folks, the CIA/BJC Dept of Justice, 9/11 Commissars/ DDI/ NSA/DoD/Gorelick and co., BJ/Hillary/GWB/Geo.Bush 1/Colin Bowell/ and anyone else that worked in the Federal Gov't prior to 2006! Nothing more than Big Guv'mnt Phonies and thieving bureauratic liars, need to despose them in some court under some oath and get to the bottom of this (sort-of)War on Terror....I feel an ever increasing need to see some of these people walking the plank not jiving and shucking any and all responsibility...now, where's my short, thick rope!

February 24, 2006

Mr President I am very dissapointed in you. You told us Your for Our secuity and you allow the mexican border open enough to allow anyone to cross over here. Now your abut to allow an arab country to operate land in such a way e able to get someone or something through our ports. I understand about the worry in our relationship BUT we are at war which YOU started and now it is time to protect us and that isn't the way I am a viet Nam vet and a register voter. I was democatic but just changed to vote you in. Now I am sorry and I will not back you if you allow this to happen. Bottom line is our secuity isn't great at the ports now and this will allow the enemy to have just another way to get to us. No moslim country should be allowed to have anything what to do with anything that has to do with bringing anything into this country and that includes airlines. The security at the ports will not beable to stop anything from getting in when they take over and learn our system at the ports. Criminals so it all the time what about the drug war you haven't been able to stop it.WE OUR AT WAR and they need us more than we need them. You were elected to do what the people want not what you think is best for us. Your not my father and I know what is best for me and my children and grandchildren. Your taking a big risk doing thiswith OUR lives. I hope you will do the right thing Mr Bush.and stop this. In world war2 we put japanese in camps we should be doing the same thing with the moslims here and checkout them out and then release those that are ok and send the rest out of here or in jail. I'm sorry about being so uncareing but I care only for my children and my fellow AMERICANS. Close our borders and checkout everyone coming in here and leave the local citizens alone. Your making a big mistake if you allow this to go through.

Dear President Bush,

I cannot state clearly enough my EXTREME OPPOSITION to the ports deal you have gone behind the peoples backs and made. It is such an insane thing to do that it makes me question your sanity. Who would be crazy enough to go along with this? NO OTHER COUNTRY should be in charge of our ports BUT ESPECIALLY ANY ARAB OR ISLAMIC COUNTRY. Our country has become way too wimpy and bleeding heart liberal. WE WERE ATTACKED BY MIDDLE EASTERN PEOPLE AND NOW YOU WANT TO HAND OVER MASSIVELY IMPORTANT PARTS OF OUR COUNTRY TO THEM?!!!! I can't believe this and I can't believe I voted for you. I don't even know if I will vote Republican again.

"To:

February 25, 2006

Mr. President,

I was a registered Republican. I actually voted for you. I defended you when most people around me referred to you as a hillbilly, a yokel, a terrorist, well you've heard them all i'm sure. No longer, I have just recently changed my party, I am now a Libertarian. Why? I've watched you and listened to you and gave you the benefit of the doubt on all issues. My family has been displaced because of hurricane Katrina and when others systematically blamed you, once again, I defended you. I haven't changed my mind about that. I know that New Orleans, the levee board, and the state electorate are directly responsible for the levee failure. Why just 3 months before the storm, my husband and I , both registered nurses , who work in the New Orleans area were on-line looking to purchase personal flotation devices. How absurd is that?....
....Now, this port situation. YOU ARE DEAD WRONG!!! I remember distinctily you You are wrong on this issue. I hired you to protect me. Would you please , do that? Your allegiance is to America , our Constitution, and our great citizens.I will continue to pray for Israel, our soldiers, you and your family and our elected officials to do what we sent you to do. I don't have any money to lobby you with, I could buy you a hamburger, and that's about it....but I spent my vote on you. Would you please listen!! The American people do not want this!!

162. A hamburger?
That one would have to pimp the entire McDonald's chain to get our current president to listen. If small contributors and grass-roots types were truly representative of what the Republican party stands for, this president would already have been perp-walked out of the White House - along with about half the executive branch appointees - by the Congress elected to represent such as these.

I just hope even 10% of the self-styled Republicans figure this out in 2006. If that happens, either the Democrats will handle the perp-walk in early 2007, or there will be a major, major election-fixing scandal unfolding in full view of the public. (Not that there shouldn't have been one already!)

Peace
