Chuck Schumer: Let Halliburton Run Ports

Sen. Charles Schumer, who's been a leading critic of the Bush administration's decision to approve a takeover of U.S. ports by a company based in the United Arab Emirates, said Monday that he'd rather give Hallibuton the contract.

"I'd take Halliburton over U.A.E. at this point, if I had to take a choice right now," Schumer told Fox News Channel's John Gibson.

The New York Democrat endorsed a Halliburton port takeover - an idea first floated by radio host Rush Limbaugh - even though his party has spent years vilifying the company because of its ties to Vice President Dick Cheney.

22. I kind of agree with that premise.
When there are rats everywhere around this administration, sometimes it is hard to smell a fresh one.

I believe I smell one here.

8. Agreed. NewsMax is not a credible source of information.
I'm amazed that DUers use them as primary sources.

13. Newsmax secondary mission is to make Democrats look bad, by whatever
means necessary. First mission to make Bushco look great.

6. seems more like sarcasm than an endorsement
If I say I would rather have Nixon than Bush, it is not an endorsement of Nixon.

11. Hello? Don't you think your subject line is a little misleading?!
Here is what Newsmax purports that he said from the quote: Sen.

Here is how you summarize this: "Schumer wants Haliburton to run ports!"

Hello? It is pretty bad when Newsmax is more responsible than our own DUers? :wtf:

16. You should say what the headline is
"Schumer: Let Halliburton run ports." Equally as misleading as your headline there. Xontrary to what a previous poster had said, I don't believe newsmax was more responsible. Considering the headline doesn't really follow through with the article.

that's my guess on this whole thing, is its a bait and switch to have halliburton do it for MORE money.
