not used to sympathy! Mostly try to have humor about these things....dang, just when you think you have a handle on stuff!
As usual nothing life threatening (well I guess it could have been!) and I know there is REAL suffering in the world but darn it! I am stuck in this freaking car culture and there just seems no way to get unhooked from the infernal machines!

no was being litteral. Wheel came off my van the otherday just a mile or so after husband got off the interstate. (yikes) He worked all weekend getting "welded" wheelbearing off spindle and replaced it with one off another junker. We drove close to 80 miles on that one yesterday and he drove it around this morning - fine no probs then the oldest kid took off to run an errand and almost kills himself - same wheel came off again! Now we have to have it towed and I guess they can figure out what went wrong...rats! I hate cars. Hate being dependant on the damn things, hate how much they cost. The only thing they are good for is putting on cool bumperstickers.

I used to have a car that when I was driving down the interstate flames would start spewing from under the hood. I ended up taking along a lot of water when I did any highway driving..

8. I don't make stuff up. |
|
It was due to oil leaking from the engine that I couldn't afford to fix, and couldn't afford not to drive...

9. It just sounded so casual and ordinary, the way you put it |
|
which I totally relate to. People often react like that to me when I speak of my "adventures".
Have had some leaky smokers, but haven't had one catch on fire (yet) (crosses fingers, knocks on wood, salt over the shoulder etc)
Can't fix 'em, can't get a new one, so you are just stuck driving it into the ground - I know that scene!

11. Drive 'em 'till they drop |

That's my moto! I'll be damned if I'll give the big auto corporations more than I have to!
You are really lucky when you think about it, Kali! Any one of those wheel mishaps could have killed or seriously injured a member of your family.
Perspective is everything;)

14. Wow, two DU hugs in one day! |
|
And I think they are my first...Thanks! Again, this is kind of the story of rural life at least for me! I have so much to be thankful for I probably shouldn't complain, but that is human nature. (and cars just invite complaints anyway, don't they?)
