http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x490855Whoop! There It Is!!! Joementum's Got Chimpy's Back On the Port Deal!!!!! "One of the few legislators to come close to defending the transaction was Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, Democrat of Connecticut, who is considered a security hawk among Democrats. He told ABC News that he was "not yet" prepared to try to block the sale. He noted that many port terminals in the United States are foreign-owned." http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/2/22/121139/811 http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/19/politics/19cnd-port.h...

11. No - I remember Lieberman being laughed at |
|
for turning so "liberal" when he became Al's running mate. He must've been glad to shed that icky skin.

14. He is very conservative and pretended to be moderate |
|
when he ran with Gore.
He is from the Zell Miller school of being a Democrat.

12. I think he's being quiet for now |

He's having a primary so he doesn't want the people of his home to be upset with him.

4. It's part of the RW tag-team defense of everything bush!!! |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 06:34 PM by stopbush
Here's how it works: if the wacko RW is against something like Portgate (ie: bush's base is getting uneasy), then the "moderates" like McCain & Warner step in to defend him. If the moderates express concerns about something (NSA spying) then the wacko RW steps in to defend him.
With this strategy - and believe me, it IS a strategy - bush ALWAYS has support from his party.
That allows the subtext to always be "Democrats and EVEN SOME Republicans" are questioning bush. That translates as ALL Dems always question bush but only SOME Rs ever question him.
McCain might absolutely loathe the Portgate deal, but he is a team player and a party-over-country politician, so he plays his role when the puppeteers demand it.

|
a lot of mud with it...you know, and i know...but so many others swallow the whole pot of mud as if it were clear crystal water. how sad.
