Any news on Bob Woodruff?
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 06:48 PM by Danmel
And the photographer who was injured with him in Iraq? Haven't heard too much- I bet the injuries are pretty bad. Any one have any news? I hope they will both be alright but those IED injuries can be devastating, and it strikes me as not so good that we haven't heard anything after that big initial burst of attention. No one wants to see the badly injured and permanently damaged people.

5. "Brother: Bob Woodruff's Progress Slow"
http://people.aol.com/people/articles/0,19736,1160519,00.html

On Thursday, ABC News president David Westin dispatched an e-mail to members of the news team, saying that "both continue to make progress. Bob's brother, David, asked me to pass along this note from him and the family bringing you up to date on Bob."

The message from David Woodruff said, "On behalf of all the Woodruffs I wanted to reach out to Bob's entire ABC family and thank you again for your seemingly endless supply of love and support. It means everything to us and to everyone involved in Bob's recovery."

Regarding his brother's condition, David Woodruff said: "Bob's amazing team of doctors, nurses and corpsmen continue to be pleased with the progress he makes each day and they are optimistic about his recovery. But the more we learn about Bob's injuries the more we appreciate just how lucky he is. We need to remind ourselves it's only been 2 1/2 weeks since he sustained his injuries in Iraq. We live in a world of instant gratification where patience as a virtue is rarely practiced. Our family now has a whole new appreciation for the word and what it truly means to be patient."

Woodruff added that Bob's wife, Lee, "has been at Bethesda almost every day since we all arrived there from Germany," where Woodruff was initially airlifted after first being treated by U.S. military doctors in Iraq.

7. info I've read in the last week

Bob Woodruff is from my area, so they've discussed his status a bit in the local papers.
The last statement about Bob's condition was the one posted above. Also, another article I read said they don't know yet what kind of brain damage he may have. They've been keeping him in a coma while his body is healing.

The photographer (Doug Vogt) is doing much better. He was released from the hospital more than a week ago, and is undergoing outpatient therapy.

Incidentally, at least 13 Americans servicemen were killed in Iraq during the week Woodruff and Vogt were injured. http://www.upi.com/SecurityTerrorism/view.php?StoryID=20060131-041958-8164r
