Uh why is the US pledging to BUILD A MOSQUE in Iraq?
Why the FUCK is the United States now in the business of BUILDING MOSQUES in Muslim countries?

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20060222/D8FUDN9O7.html

President Bush pledged American help to restore the mosque after the bombing north of Baghdad, which dealt a severe blow to U.S. efforts to keep Iraq from falling deeper into sectarian violence.

3. Guilty conscience?
This wasn't any old mosque, this was a very holy shrine to the Shia. Probably doing it to try and quell sectarian violence-they think if the Shia get the shrine rebuilt, they will be less likely to go off killing all the Sunni.

14. Conscience? Conscience?
 Conscience of what, for whom?

Puh-lease!!! :eyes: Those who force their will upon others have no conscience. They may freely engage in manipulation,...THAT ENGAGES NO CONSCIENCE.

Maybe, you were thinking more along the lines of CONSCIOUS exploitation of people?

 I am not in favor of my money going to build anything of a religious nature. Let those whose religion it is take care of it..

12. I can sort of understand why we're rebuilding the stuff we blew up,
but why are U.S. taxpayers on the hook for the stuff the Iraqis blow up?

13. Doesn't having the US rebuild it sort of make it a double-bonus target?
I don't make any great claims to understand the mind of Iraqi insurgents of any stripe, but this much seems obvious by now.
