1. It sounds like an Executive Branch power play, like he's
planning for when he's pres, and he wants "deference". Looks like he wants W's endorsement in 2008 over whomever else runs. He doesn't understand that the Chimp has no real loyalty now, and will have even less when his term is over.

2. It Won't Hurt Him in the Primaries
McCain is not popular with the Republican base. I don't think he can win any more that Joe Lieberman could win the Democratic nomination, but if he has a chance, the only way is by embracing Bush now. He can shed that image in the general election if he wins.

3. Desperately trying, IMHO ...
... to demonstrate that he's a mainstream, GOP team player, having been tagged as an outsider and a rebel, which was the weapon the party used against him to get him out of the presidential race in 2000.

Someone should point out to him that this time around, he's rootin' for the wrong team. Had he shown himself to still be the 'outsider' and kept his distance from this disastrous Administration, he might have had a good shot at it in '08.

What a dunce he turned out to be.

6. Given his (former) popularity with the left ...
... due to his non-mainstream Republican stance at the outset of the BushCo tenure, they probably saw an opportunity to get some traction with the Dem voters who respected McCain (God knows I USED to respect him, and so did a lot of us).

So he's probably been promised party support for a run in 2008 - IF he publicaly comes back to 'the fold' - the prodigal son who has seen the error of his ways.

Of course, knowing how loyal the Republicans are, they'll dump him like a hot potato once primary season comes around and he is seen to have outlived his usefullness.

I've said it before: McCain is the Judas goat, meant to lead the recalcitrant Republicans to the slaughterhouse.

5. He is also getting Bush's money men behind him for 2008.
He sold out to Bush and Rove so that they will help him - or not stop him - get the nomination and win in 2008.

A Bad joke! He is disgusting. The hug is revolting after what they did to him and his family. He has lost his moral compass.

11. Why is he picking public fights with Obama? Everything is about the
Republican nomination in 2008. That is all McCain cares about from now on.

14. Screw McCain...
He tells us that we should "trust the CIC"...yeah, right. They tried to destroy McCain in 2000. He's a sniveling coward. I didn't agree with his policies but I always repected the man. He lost my respect when he sold us out to the rat bastards. What self-respecting human being would let themselves be so bamboozled by these treasonous traitors. He's a self-absorbed loser. Period.

BTW- Can you tell I've had ENOUGH of his bullshit? LOL!!!

Peace

16. I've thought - since McCain has been so not himself - that they cut
a deal with him. That they promised him a chance with Rove or some sorta thing to make McCain not be McCain.

In 5 years of this shit - McCain came out against torture. Against Abramoff. Both things as public (or about to be public) and illegal as the day is long.

He has diminished himself. Which is likely what the WH wanted all along.

17. make way for Vice President McCain
If/When Cheney is forced to resign due to indictments, McCain will be appointed Veep, then POTUS if/when shrub has to resign for same reasons.

The Controlling Entities see the writing on the wall for the shrub admin; so to cut their losses they'll get McCain running as an incumbent in '08.

Could happen! really.
