Stop the world! Why does Keith O. say, "Keep your knees loose"?
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 09:02 PM by Radio_Lady
I think he says it after every show.

There must be some reason for this -- sex or skiing come to mind -- but I want to know!

In peace,

Radio_Lady

8. That makes sense, lisa58. I'm thinking -- does that apply to all sports?
I've been involved in bicycle and horseback riding, swimming, softball, weightlifting, treadmill and stationary bicycle, and yoga -- that's about all.

Thanks for your response!

In peace,

Radio_Lady

PS. When I began as a pioneer in talk radio in the early 1970s (one of the first women to have a daily, four-hour call-in show), people asked me what I talked about on my show.

I always answered, "Everything the men talk about, except sports." Actually, Larry King and I broadcast from WIOD Miami in 1971-72, during the Miami Dolphin's perfect season (they won every game and then won the Super Bowl). Hard to top that!

10. Last position I played in high school: manager of the softball team.
Something to do with my left-handedness. I threw and caught the ball with the SAME HAND (left), although I did bat right-handed. That did it!

Appreciate your post, SharonRB.

4. Jean Shepherd!
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 09:08 PM by Lex
Jean Shepherd said it.

He's quoting Jean Shepherd: Keep your knees loose and your glove well oiled.

Edit to add: You know, the "You're going to put your eye out." A Christmas Story author.

12. We have a winner! It was radio raconteur Jean Shepherd who used it first!
See this link:

http://www.context.org/ICLIB/IC07/UVFamily.htm

"AND REMEMBER, KIDDIES, keep your knees loose and your glove well oiled." With that phrase Jean Shepherd - New York radio raconteur, midwestern baseball nut and absurd guru to legions of misfit nightowls - would sign off in the wee hours of the morning. It took a while before the deeper meaning of that bit of baseball wisdom became apparent. Knees loose: aha! flexible, ready to move in any direction. Glove well oiled: yes, ready to catch the ball, to catch anything life throws your way."

7. Missed part of his show tonight. Did he give the count of how many days
it has been since the announcment "Mission Accomplished"? Or did MSNBC nix his recent daily protest?

21. yeah I got it reconstructed
in December '99 by the U of Washington's football team doctor. I was still contemplating making a comeback in wrestling at the time, so I lucked out and got a great doc to do it. Feels better than my other one now. Those surgeries really fix a person up if the job is done right. :)
