Have you lost respect for the SCOTUS??? |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 02:17 AM by Nutmegger
I use to really admire the institution but now I'm kind of, I don't know, apathetic. Those who have voted for Bush Inc, how can they sleep at night?! (both voters and Justices)
I really lost respect in the US as a whole. What a rotten period in our history.

1. Well, yeah, I've lost respect, but that happened back in |
|
December 2000. I still respect the US. Remember that half the people here did NOT vote for Bush.

2. I protested O'Connor here in 2001. I admired her before the selection. |
|
Right now I have more respect for our local Hells Angels, another gang.

O'Connor really disappointed me. I at least thought we had the Supreme Court.

3. The Supreme Court has been politicized |
|
by the right wingers. They have ruined the Court for all time. Another result of G W Bush. Even Reagan was central enough to nominate a woman and stick with it.

5. Considering that even before Bush tainted it |
|
I tended to agree with one out of every three or so rulings? Not much respect to lose at that point.

You have Scalia going on trips with Cheney, and getting vacations paid by The Federalist Society, and we can't do anything about it.
Congress has rules on lobbyists, but the Supreme Court doesn't.
They say that the Supreme Court should be a lifetime appointment, because then they aren't beholden to anybody, but the reverse is, they can do whatever they want, and don't have to face any repercussions at all.
Decide a case in which you are personally involved. No problem.
