Russian missile cruiser Moskva - on a NATO exercise stopped in Syria

Representatives of the NATO's Regional Headquarters Allied Forces Southern Europe in Naples, Italy, paid a visit to the Russian Black Sea missile cruiser Moskva on February 7, news agency RIA Novosti was told by the Russian Black Sea fleet press office. The cruiser commanded by the Deputy Commander of the Russian Black Sea fleet Vice-Admiral Vasily Kondakov will be heading a unit of the fleet’s vessels at the joint NATO- Russian fleet exercises due to begin on February 14, following the Russian warship visit to Italian sea-port of Messina, the news agency reports. According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov a Black Sea fleet task force vessels will take part in the joint Russian-NATO exercises held in the Mediterranean Sea under the code name “Active Endeavor”. A Black Sea Fleet task force will drill interaction in combating the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, illegal weapons trade and illegal migration, Ivanov told President Vladimir Putin, quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency. The Russian naval task force comprises the Moskva missile cruiser, the Azov landing ship and the SB-36 tugboat. The mission will last two to three months and the warships would visit the Russian military base in Syria before return to Sevastopol, Ivanov said. According to the Russian Defence Minister, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer also plans to visit the Moskva missile cruiser, news agency reports.

Word has it
It stopped in Syria on the Feb 21 after it captured the Nottingham a British Destroyer on mock games... the surprise came when it broke away and stopped in its port in Syria... Its quite a boat it fights submarines and can carry nuclear warheads... Its a big thing that it participated in the Nato war games...but as usual Putin lets everybody know he commands his cruiser.......
