By the way, there is an episode of South Park where the guys decide to make their rock band into a "christian rock" group because they realize there will be a guaranteed audience... whereas without the 'gimmick', their band was going nowhere.
I'd say that a Republican rock band is a type of gimmick, along the same line.
Oh yeah, I love the "nyah nyah nyah" musical refrain in the song "Bush Was Right" (like 'neener neener')
