Matt Lauer/Today Show already pumping UAE port sale
There is NO -- and I repeat NO, absolutely NO threat to our nat'l security from the sale of these port operations to the UAE. Why, we should be more threatened by all those hijackers coming in from the U.K. like that shoe bomber fellow.

I know this now because I just heard it on The Today Show. So there!

I use to be neutral toward them. They belong on Foxsnooze.

You should have seen them go into Bushbot mode at light speed. Rebuttal not included, of course.

5. Oh for pity's sake
They had on a well respected security analyst who usually speaks out against admin policies. Now I only caught about 2 minutes of it- I tend not to watch Today, but I'd bet that in the last few days they've had on guests who oppose the port deal. In any case, Roger Cressey is not a bushco shill.

11. Have they?
I've tuned in to TTS every morning to get a recap of the Olympics and don't recall having seen such an interview with someone holding an opposing viewpoint. If someone else has, please let us know. And unlike you, I caught all of Cressey's interview this morning, not just two minutes. Good thing I hadn't started my breakfast before Lauer and Cressey launched into their mutual orgasm over the UAE buy.

7. Fox & Friends said that the UAE-WH secret deal would make the USA safer.
I'm not kidding. Rove got out the talking point and the spin late last night in preparation for the release of the AP story on the secret deal this morning. The very same secret deal that allows the UAE to NOT file noramlly required paperwork with the US government, among other exceptions. :grr:

29. Can you imagine the lather they'd be in if Clinton had done this?
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 11:03 AM by Oregonian
Fox would be screaming 24/7 about Clinton selling us to the "A-rabs." Oh, it would've been righteous fire and brimstone indignation ...

12. Break the Today habit
Don't watch it. I've just about convinced my wife (a Today show diehard) to turn it off.
It's a garbage production anyway, even without the heavily Rove-influenced agenda.
Today is over.

15. Unfortunately....
It occupies the same channel as my favorite local news station, NBC4 out of Washington, D.C. So I have to (mentally) tune out TTS in order to catch the local updates and weather. The past couple of weeks I've been paying more attention for the Olympic updates. Still, I would hate to sacrifice my NBC4 fix just to avoid the shamefully biased "news" and misc. drivel on TTS.

since the panel at the Treasury Dept. deciding on the deal saw no security issue.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/23/politics/23port.html?_r=1&th&emc=th&oref=slogin

The Bush administration decided last month that a deal to hand over operations at major American ports to a government-owned company in Dubai did not involve national security and so did not require a more lengthy review, administration officials said Wednesday.

17. AND burying the breaking Iraq Civil War below headline
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 08:04 AM by npincus
stories like "2 feuding Olympic speedskaters shake hands". Earthshaking.

Sorry, but the Iraqi civil breakdown is THE no. 1 story of the day- it belongs above the UAE port scandal. The most sacred 1,200 year old Shi'ite mosque gets blown up and civil war is erupting in Iraq... the new gov't is falling apart... and thousands of American soldiers are stuck in that messs that B*sh created. Fucking NBC BURIED this story.

At least ABC had the decency to put this at the top of the show. Jesus.

They have it on at work every morning. It has to be about the most annoying thing on the air. And to think it used to be good in the past. I miss *intelligent* morning shows.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=479483

Look I am loving all the political hay being made over this (it's too late this story has already been sold to the masses so they can't really fix it now) but my rudimentary opinion on this from Tuesday still holds.

24. Right you are Peep!
No way can it be repackaged, sold and spun by Rove. The Rabble has roused and they aren't backing down.

Me thinks the real question is, what kind of vice does Bush have his balls in? Since putting the toothpaste back in the tube doesn't seem possible at this point, and *Bushco is emphatic about the sale going through, I think the show is about to begin.

For the first time in 5 years, I finally feel like popping some corn.

Lately Lauer and Couric have been bigger cheerleaders for Bush than Hannity or Coulter ever have been IMO.
