Let's Just Call the Whole Thing Off
Sorry if this has been said before - don't have time to check back through all the threads, but in "debating" with Repukes on another board - it has been presented to me that since I'm against this port deal that I'm a Biggot and Racist who racially profiles. Which is really interesting since we've got hundreds of people sitting in Guantanamo with ABSOLUTEY NO CHARGES against them, presumably sitting there due to Republican administration profiling.

If its okay now to sell American ports to Arabs - then I say let's call the whole thing off. Let's say the war on terror is over, let's get our soldiers back home, let's repeal the Patriot Acts I & II, let's go back to using the courts as they are supposed to be used in wiretapping instances, let's stop shipping "suspects" over seas for torture, let's resurect the Constitution & Bill of Rights - and get things back to normal in America again. They can't have it both ways - either there is a "war on terror" or there isn't. Let this backfire right in their stupid faces. They can't win on this.

So - let's just call the whole thing off - and start over. I notice a caller on C-SPAN this morning saying now that 9/11 was YEARS ago and we need to get over it, and get past it. This after all the Remember 9/11 and EVERY THING changed on 9/11. Well, obviously it didn't.

I say let's end the war right now, forget about attacking Iran, let's get our noses out of the Middle East and get our noses back in America where it needs to be. That $TRILLION spent on the war in Iraq would have gone a long way here at home.

My .02 and I needed to get that off my chest this morning!

1. Let's all just go back six years and start again.
Don't you just wish we could?

2. anyone who calls you a bigot or a racist for questioning
the deal just needs a brief reminder of what our great leader has done for us on his watch the last time he said not to worry about security, the very first time he told us to trust his judgement:

3. Well, you can tell them
that your attitude isn't racist-that if the Brits had the security track record of the UAE, then you'd be against them having the contract, too. If it makes any difference, you can tell him that you know a Muslim who doesn't think the UAE should have the contract.

4. I find it curious that the right is accusing us of racism re: Muslims.
This, from the group who believes in racial profiling at airports. This, from the group who feels we should just blow Iraq up and get rid of the "towel heads" for good. This, from the group who thinks it's OK to wiretap Muslim churches here in the states.

5. Fear, fear, and more fear!
Look, the Bu$h admin have been going around for the past five years telling everyone that we need to fear the Arab people. So lo and behold the people fear the arab people, Bu$h can't have it both ways.

6. did you point out that the uae royals
paid a lovely little visit to osama?

what bothers me -- is giving away more american jobs.

i can believe that one country can do as a good a job at security as another -- but these jobs should run by americans.

and if we're really serious about security -- then these should be folded into government jobs as well.

7. Trust me
they are all losing their asses in this debate - its gone to the nastiest vile personal attacks you can imagine - I can handle them because most of them don't have 2 brain cells to rub together - but I guess my larger point is - Why can't this be the new MEME - for Democrats, Independents, all people who are against this war, against this administration and know that 9/11 was the big lie.

Either there is a "war on terror" or there isn't. And if they sell the ports - it would seem to me there must not be. So let's just call the whole thing off. DEMAND that the soldiers in Iraq be brought home, DEFY them to attack Iran, DARE them to try and break the law again in the name of National Security or Terror and tell them to get their filthy ass hands off our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

They're caught here - the only thing Bush can do no is say that God told him to sell the ports. If he was at 39% before, he's got to be at about 19% now - the country is against him - this is our opportunity to REVERSE everything that he's done. CALL EM ON IT - AND LET'S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF - and let's start getting America back.
