Is there a good name for women who are anti-choice?
We all know what an Uncle Tom is.

Is there an equivalent term for women, like South Dakota Senator Julie Bartling* (a Democrat), who vote to restrict their own freedom? What should we call the Uncle Toms of the abortion debate?

*Democrat Sen. Julie Bartling of Burke said the time is right for the ban on abortion.

“In my opinion, it is the time for this South Dakota Legislature to deal with this issue and protect the rights and lives of unborn children,” she said during the Senate's debate. “There is a movement across this country of the wishes to save and protect the lives of unborn children.”

6. As a woman
I have to say that I cannot participate in namecalling.

Sisters, we fight too much amongst ourselves as it is.

Let us embrace our diversity and work toward an accord of our hearts.

14. Those "sisters" who are against choice do not want to
embrace diversity, they want to dictate what you can and cannot do. They don't want an accord of hearts, they want you to be forced to accept their ideas as law. When someone willfully acts and advocates the loss of their own freedoms, it isn't name-calling to say that they are stupid...

19. Yeah it kind of is.
Calling someone stupid is name-calling whether you think it is justified or not.

Frankly nine times out of ten, people who call names think they are justified in doing it.

24. There is a thing called stupidity. There are stupid people.
Recognizing a person's stupidity is not, necessarily, calling that person names. Now, if you had said that "sometimes" it can be name-calling, I would agree. But saying that a stupid person is stupid is no more name-calling than saying that a tall person is tall or a thin person is thin.

33. Tall and Thin are seen as nuetral qualities
Calling someone fat or ugly or stupid, those are seen as negative qualities. You are making a judgement call on those people (and I can't believe you would even deny them) and deciding they are stupid.

Do you really expect them to take it as a compliment?

42. Stupid may be insulting, but it is,in fact a state of being.
"Tall" and "thin" are only "compliments" because you infer them as such. "Short" and "fat" and "ugly" are only non-neutral through inference (unless intended as insults or compliments). When someone says, "That's an ugly wound." They are not being insulting to the wound. There is an argument for "stupid" being a relative term, I'll grant you that. But the idea that designating someone as "stupid" is always intended as an insult I disagree with. There are stupid individuals; they cannot help being stupid. One can refrain from saying that they are stupid (in polite society that might be the wisest course), but that does not alter the fact that they are stupid.

I would think that anyone who willfully acts to diminish their own freedoms, without the recognition of doing so, would be stupid. But, that is my opinion and I will admit that some may legitimately think that I, myself, am stupid. I have no problem with that. :hi:

29. menopausal is not a negative. it is a NORMAL part of a woman's life

menopausal women sweat a lot, they don't lose their minds. they lose sweat and sleep and may be cranky. cranky but still able to think.

menopause is good! it means you don't have to mess with bleeding every month and after it's over you can't get preg.

menopause takes a number of yrs., somewhat like an orchid, which does everything slowly from growing a leaf to blooming.

women have a second blooming after menopause and before old age.

menopause is NORMAL, it is not a medical condition.
