Daily Meme: "This is what happens when you don't know what you're doing"
The current news may seem complicated and multi-faceted. But IMO, it's ll based on a very simple premise.

America is being run by an administratioin that doesn't know what it's doing. They thought they were smarter than everyone else, but they have proven to know less. And we're seeing the results.

In 2000, Bush's lack of depth and knowledge was an issue. Now we're seeing the fruits of putting someone in charge who doesn't really have a clue about basic cause-and-effect.

The Middle East? They thought they were going to easily transform it into a colony and suburb of the US. Instead, the opposite is happening on many fronts.

Iraq? Getting rid of Sadaam by invading the nation without a clear plan may have seemed like a good idea at the time to them. But as many people warned them, there are reasons you don't deal with deep seated problems by going off half-cocked. Sadaam was a festering problem that needed to be dealt with, but that wasn't the way to do it....So they have taken a "trouble spot" and turned it into a potentially deveatating state of chaos.

"Free trade" Globalization? Although international trade is a good thing that should be encouraged, there are ways to go about it that would also protect America's domestic economy, and enable poorer nations to develop their own. The policies we have been pursuing are based on a false premise -- That stimulating trade requires nations to give up their sovergnty to Global Empires of Capital....As for America, you don't have to be a rocket science to recognize that eliminating jobs and forcing Americans to compete with $6 a day wages is NOT the way to build a truly strong nation or economy.

Privatization? Sounds nice in theory. But what happens when you combine that with the "free trade" corporate CON job is that you lose any ability to pursue intelligent policies. Thus you get this mess over the ports.

The list goes on and on....But it all boils down to a basic fact. If your instincts tell you that someone is shallow and clueless, your instincts might be correct.

3. Buck up --- It already has started to shift
A few years ago, it was difficult to conceive of the degree of criticism from a variety of sources that is occurring now. Bush was invincible, the administration were never questioned or challenged, and Bush had approval ratings in the 70's and 80's.

I realize how bad things have gotten, but you have to focus on donuts as well as holes.

4. and the prize goes to
absolutely. This administration is incompetent to do anything but steal, and this is the result.

If you're too stupid to know something about the subject matter, you'll be too stupid to hire someone to manage it for you. So we get horse-shit muckers running FEMA, lottery supervisors nominated to the supreme court, a proselytizing retired desk anchor gay hating coarse "christian" woman as Ambassador of Spin in the middle east, and a secretary of state who can name every russian general back to Peter the Great but has no idea what a djellaba or salwar kameez is or how destructive phrases like "turn them to glass" are when used on the world stage.

We have a bunch of fucking idiots in charge fucking things up.

she sure did. I read it on a DU link somebody posted to a speech of hers responding to Iran's growing nuclear threat - I think the speech was given in October if I remember correctly.

5. This was the topic on Springer....
this AM. Very refreshing to say out loud that this President is just plain stupid and in Springer's opinion shouldn't have even considered running for President because he knows he's stupid. Hell, the world knows he's stupid.

10. 80 percent where I live want him out now....
But I live in a very blue area, where our long-time Congressman just signed on to Conyers impeachment inquiry resolution.

So my perception is a little skewed through "blue-colored glasses."

I'll have to rely on the judgement of folks who live in "Redder" areas as to what the sentiments are there.

I am amazed at the cross section of people around here who you might think on the surface would be KoolAid drinkers who turn out to be just as cheesed as any DUer.
