I wonder what warner is going to buy with his UAE check? |
|
Because Lord knows he is earning it today.

2. That's because the rest of his party is staying away from this hot potatoe |
|
He's got to do the work of the whole Republican half of the committee in doing the duties of an apologist.

4. When does he stand for reelection? He's likely safe for a while |
|
If he were up this year, even with all of his chairs and seniority, he'd have some serious competition on this single issue alone---I think the DNC oughta keep his statements on file, and make sure they have the video handy....what a stupid stance, I can't imagine his constituency is happy with him right now.

5. His constituency is the Norfolk/Newport News area of VA. |

The ports there are run by the Commonwealth. I'm surprised he would side with UAE. I believe he is planning on retiring when his term is up (but I'm not 100% sure).

6. Actually, his constituency is the entire state, though he made his bones |
|
around the Tidewater, simply because he was once SECNAV and had a large following of senior retired USN types.
If he isn't thinking about retiring, he might want to--this position he is taking is NOT GONNA work with his base at all.

7. Yup, he thinks he is a maverick, but he has caved on |
|
all his "principles" to stay on the good side of BushCo. Abu Ghraibv, renditions, improperly outfitted US troops, lack of body armor, corruption, contaminated food and water via Halliburton, all of these would have been investigated by the John Warner of old. Is it worth it John?
