Matthews Does it Again: Democrats are Weak on National Security
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 02:28 PM by FLDem5
I have been waiting for this transcript to come up - because I thought I might have heard it wrong, I thought for sure Americablog or MediaMatters would have it up because they are so good about catching him doing this, so when they didn't I was SURE I heard wrong -but no.

Tweety repeats his personal opinion into his interview in a way that I think is blatantly demeaning towards Democrats - tell me what YOU think:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11520430 /

MATTHEWS: Well that was President Bush, of course, defending his decision to let an Arab state-owned company manage American ports. Call it a political identity swap now. Here we have the president looking like a Democrat in this debate over war and security and the Democrats looking like security-conscious Republicans. Here to dig into this fight is HARDBALL political analyst Bob Shrum and former Bush 41 aide Ed Rogers. Ed, you first. Where are you on this? Are you with the president or do you think he made a boo boo here?

(bold was mine)

infuriating - like Democrats aren't security conscious? He deserves to get pummeled for that. That is the kind of crap Rove spews. Truly disgusting.

15. Nah- their view will not shift -
I do watch it if General Clark is on - other than that - I pretty much know what they will say.

You don't always know what you will get with Lou Dobbs.

7. Tweety's gonna be shut down when the pendulum swings
back the other way. He'll have to start competing directly with Rush to keep his program on the right end of the block.

11. Matthews' brother is running for Lt. Gov. of Penn (as a Republican)
I expect we'll see a lot of these partisan slams from him in the coming months.

12. Unprofessional, amateurish production values
I watched him on Tuesday. I've pretty much sworn off, but there was nothing else of interest on. What I really noticed was that the production values were really poor. I've seen better high school TV broadcasts.

I've always known that many of his interviews are taped in advance & Tweety sort of pretends that they aren't. They cut to him at the end & he "thanks" the guest as if they were live, but he's not a very good actor. But on Tuesday, he had been interviewing several people and they cut to the shot of him and the audio from the interview was still rolling saying "We'll be right back" but Tweety's lips weren't moving. He had a deer-in-the-headlights look.

Then, in the same show, they cut away from a pre-taped interview & he was in mid-sentence. In effect, he cut HIMSELF off!

I know he's a boor, and a bore, and a Dem Basher, and a Bush lover. On top of all that, his show is an amateur hour!

Anybody else notice this?

13. I didn't, but I am not a professional - what I have been noticing lately
is that the Republicans are in the studio and the Democrats are on a Video feed.

What is up with that?

16. I don't need to be in tv production
to recognize hackery. If Tweety is talking to guests on a tape and they're showing a shot of him at the desk & his lips aren't moving... that's hackery. And this was on the SECOND airing! They COULD have fixed it!
