Yet another strange Zogby Poll. |
|
How are you supposed to answer some of these questions?
1. A bigger government, able to help more people, is better, even if it means higher taxes and less personal choice and freedom. Strongly agree, Somewhat agree, Somewhat disagree, Strongly disagree, Not sure
Poorly worded Freeper-type question. Remember Carter and Clinton reduced government and the deficit while Reagan and W increased both.
2. I am willing to pay higher taxes to pay down the federal deficit and ongoing federal debt.
I sure wish * hadn't created this out of the Clinton surplus, but won't it have to be paid off? Does America believe Santa will pay it?
3. The Constitution is a document that is set in stone, and the intent of the people who wrote it is clear thanks to the text of the Constitution and other documents, like the Federalist Papers.
Set in stone? Why the hell is it amendable?
4. The Constitution is a living document that can change and evolve with the times.
No duh. They are called Amendments. Check them out sometime.
Shheesh.

1. I took this poll as well. |
|
I used the comments area to suggest questions that, I think, get more to the heart of matters.

3. Zogby must have been secretly taken over by Carlyle. They're |
|
getting weirder and weider. I didn't finish the last propoganda piece they sent me--the questions were ridiculous.

I would have some respect for him if he just admitted he's pushing an ultra-conservative line and nothing in our laws will stop him.
I'll be glad when some future President is replacing him.

8. The amendments are irrelevant to original intent. |
|
The issue with the amendments is whether you follow the original intent of the drafters of the amendments, or do the meanings of the amendments change with time. They are not whats meant when non-original-intent people talk about a living document. The proponents of a living document argue that the meaning of the text changes even though the text itself does not change.

9. There is nothing wrong with these questions. |
|
They are designed to test your reaction to the wording of the question, not objective truth.
