is Abramoff in custody or otherwise supervised/protected...?
I'm asking this question for the obvious reasons-- on the one hand, lots of very powerful people are apparently at risk from his cooperation and testimony. Some of those would likely love to see him have an accident, or simply be offed without any pretense-- no matter how scandalous his death might be, he's likely to take a lot of damaging info to the grave rather than the grand jury. On the other hand, suicide might eventually begin to look like an acceptable alternative to ratting out all of your friends and associates, and still likely losing everything, doing time, etc. So far the latter possibility seems less likely, but there's a lot more to come of this in the months ahead, IMO, and Abramoff's situation is going to become more difficult as time goes on.

1. Heard a report yesterday he's been 'cooperating' for the past
18 months or so. :wow: But I would think that they'ld need him to testify.

We'll see how soon the indictments are delivered.

2. That is food for thought ...
... and the means of getting away with it are already there. Abramoff has been linked to the hit-man who took out Gus Boulos (sp?) in Florida. A 'hit' on Abramoff could always been explained away as a mob vendetta, because he was about to roll over on the guy who pulled the trigger in the Gus B. murder ...

And with Abramoff's fascination with 'The Godfather' - wouldn't THAT be great IRONY!

3. Do you happen to have a link to the 'Gus B' story?
I have to admit I am ignorant here; my hubby talks about the murder of a casino-boat operator that had ties to some of these guys. Is that the same thing?
