S.D. grand jury indicts Earth Liberation Front leader
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20060222-1746-elf.html

<snip> SAN DIEGO – A federal indictment unsealed Wednesday in San Diego charges a recognized national leader of the Earth Liberation Front with teaching others how to make a bomb with the intent that it be used to commit arson.

Rodney Adam Coronado, who was arrested today in Arizona, is charged with teaching and demonstrating the making of a destructive device before dozens of people in Hillcrest on Aug. 1, 2003.

Coronado is not charged with setting a fire 15 hours earlier that caused $50 million in damages and destroyed a large apartment complex under construction in the University Towne Center area of San Diego, prosecutors said.

"America will not tolerate terrorists," said Daniel R. Dzwilewski, special agent in charge of the San Diego division of the FBI. "Whether you were born here or abroad, we will not stand back and allow you to terrorize our communities under the guise of free speech." <snip>

So let me get this straight, there was a fire and then 15 hours afterward he supposedly taught somebody some super-secret arson technique. Please. :eyes:

17. I re-read the article and it says that the law is against
teaching bomb-making with the intent that the information be used to commit arson.

4. Teaching that is illegal?
Damn.

I know several Right Wing sites that have done just that!

9. I guess this means I shouldn't...
show you all how to make a dry-ice chaff bomb that will pull a power transmission line out of service without destroying it, eh?

Darn.

And that was gonna be my next posting, too.

11. Hell, no. And I expect a roundup of all the "Army of God" sites
that talk in depth of how to kill an abortion doctor, via examples left behind by others.

13. The article says "with the intent that it be used to commit arson"
and so if you have evidence that the right-wing websites intend the information on bombs to be used for arson, please call the FBI.

12. I don't agree with the E.L.F. or their methods by any means...
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 06:25 PM by tjwash
...however, this is a horrible precedent to set. It is in direct contradiction to the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments, and just another example of the feds wiping their asses with the constitution under the guise of protecting us from terrorists.

And don't be suprised if it is thrown out because it is a bullshit charge and unconstitutional.

14. If there is evidence that he intended the information
to be used to commit arson, then I don't think he can win on constitutional grounds.

22. Oh, for chrissakes, they're selling our ports to fundamentalist Islamic
theocrats, in a country that spawned two of the 9/11 hijackers, that enslaves children for camel races, tortures homosexuals, and treats women like chattles.

They have sold off our election system to two rightwing Bushite corporations.

They've defied national and international laws on pre-emptive war, on torture, on POWs, on domestic spying, on "outing" an entire CIA counter-proliferation network, and have committed mass murder and massive theft.

And FBI is wasting its time on THIS? It's mind-boggling.
