Frankly I could care less if dems are involved in the Abrahamoff scandal
The difference between Democrats (and others who love their country) and the freepers is that we want to see the law applied properly TO ALL. So…IF some dems were taking illegal funds/services from Abrahamoff, go ahead and prosecute them. To the same extent and with the same vigor as applied to the Republicans. I will not wail or worry about their fate. I will not excuse their behavior. And in not excusing their behavior I will not excuse anyone else’s. So bring it on. Justice for all and all that.

(please note the qualifier IF in the above statement before flaming about the lack of dems in the scandal...)

3. Not flaming you, but we need to nip this RW talking point in the bud.
Dems DID NOT receive a SINGLE DIME from that dirty crook, Abramoff.

I already see too many people (not here on DU - out in the barely conscious public) lazily sweeping the whole mess under the rug ("well, both sides did it", "ALL politicians are crooked", etc) and it drives me up the wall.

No, they don't "all" do it, and while I'd never canonize Democrats as saints, they are A FAR SIGHT more ethical and honest than the vast majority of rethuglicans in congress. And not a single one of them rec'd dirty money from Abramoff.

Now, did some Dems (or more specifically, charitable PACs they endorsed) receive funds from those poor suckers who happened to be victims of Abramoff? Possibly so. With an eye to proportion and perspective, the comparable amounts we are talking about here are ridiculously out of balance.

$5k to Dorgan's Dakota childrens education fund versus MILLIONS to any ONE of these jokers private offshore account is like buying a Dem's constituent a soda at the company cafeteria.

4. Everyone involved should be prosecuted and, if guilty, jailed.
I don't care if they are martians.

However, the truth is, the majority are Republicans. Investigate this thing, and I suspect you'll find these rumors of "Dems did it too" are pure smoke screen. It's meant to blunt the outcry, keep a few of the mob from picking up pitchforks or lighting fires, keep a few potential whistleblowers from picking up the phones.

I'm tired of pussyfooting around. Damn the fallout. If some Dems are involved in this they deserve to hang along with the rest of the slime. Hang'em all.

:grr:
