Why do fundie christians hate America so much?

From his rural home near Lodi, Calif., Cory Burnell keeps close watch over the news from South Carolina, and he likes what he sees. Turning the state into a promised land for conservative Christians will be easier than he had thought, he says.

The state was a logical choice. It already is conservative, having played a major role in the rise of the Republican Party since Ronald Reagan. And it's home to 750,000 Southern Baptists and Bob Jones University, a fundamentalist Christian institution.

Edwin Gaustad, professor emeritus of history and religious studies at the University of California-Riverside, on the other hand, said, "I would think it would have little chance of going anywhere unless there was a secession of South Carolina from the union."

That's an option Burnell and his followers would consider, although they say it would be a last resort.

I see...They'd consider secession if they don't get their way. Sounds pretty damned un-American to me. Why do these christians hate America so much? Why isn't shill o'lielly calling them on their hatred? Why isn't faux news asking the question, "Does the christian right hate America?" like they did with their "Do liberals hate America?" before the invasion of Iraq.

Let me explain. With their eyes on the prize of heaven, they see the world and everything and everyone else in it as a distraction and a potential source of sin. They latch onto the notion of forcing Armageddon along because they think the destruction of this "sinful' world would be a good thing, and that absent the temptations the rest of us provide, they would be perfect and sinless human beings.

You following me? It's a totally insane mindset, one of completely externalizing one's own predilection toward sinning and projecting it onto the world at large. This is what makes them so very dangerous to the rest of us.

Utopians always end up focusing on the elimination of the impure, the heretical, the blasphemous, and the merely worldly in order to achieve their version of paradise on earth. What they invariably create is a hell on earth for themselves and everyone around them, which is why Utopianism has had such a bad name for so long.

There's nothing there for anyone or anything else. The are in their tiny myopic world.

If not SC, then somewhere else. Somewhere where we can then cut them off from the mainland, burn all the bridges, and let them go back to their 12th century paradise.
