Daughter got on direct with a call center |
|
Her wages were docked to $9.00 an hour when she was made permanent. She was first hired by a temp agency and paid $10.20 an hour. Her insurance costs are now $260.00 a month. She is now on a commission basis. They upped the commission stats to where she will be lucky to make federal minimum wage.
W's legacy.

Our living standard has decreased each year with W. Has the Bombay living standard been raised?

Many of the Call center type jobs follow a pattern of letting the american workers work out all the kinks in the systems, and when the job becomes rather rote---they close the american call centers and open up a foreign one--doing the same job.
What is being paid 9.00 in Peoria will next year cost the company .90 in Bombay.
Tell her to get as much experience doing as many functions within the operation as she can, and when the job evaporates she will be able to do the same thing again at a higher starting wage--- I have a friends in the Tech call center biz that has worked 4 different companies that have done this, but is now the American manager, and controls the call functions from Texas to a building in India for a fifth company.
and as one of the later posts says---if they dont move the functions to Bombay---moving it to prison labor here in the states is almost better for them---they get to then say with a straight face that they have an all American call center, with the same cost savings.

10.20 is what she cleared from a temp agency?
youd be lucky to clear 7.XX from your 12/hr check here from a temp agency.

4. Some companies use prison labor for this work----- |
|
you can look it up, or I will and I'll come back and post it in a few minutes.
AT&T, MCI, TWA and others have used prisoner labor for this kind of telemarketing and call center work. They pay something like $2 per hour when they would have to pay your daughter $9--it's screwed up.
(And that sucks that she is losing some money...)

6. It's giving her an experience to our economy |
|
It sucks. We'll try to get her through this but under W if you weren't born rich you're going to die poor. He's killed all the avenues to gain a better education and job prospects. W doesn't like Student loans. The F'ng elitist.
