did anyone see this today about Chicago airport bomb threat
A written bomb threat was discovered on a flight from Seattle to Chicago, prompting aviation officials to temporarily close Midway Airport. Southwest Airlines' Flight 202 landed without incident Thursday but the plane was not allowed to approach the terminal, authorities said.

Instead, its 129 passengers and five crew members were taken by bus to a secure area where they met with investigators, said Wendy Abrams, a spokeswoman for the city's aviation department. Beth Harbin, spokeswoman for Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, said the bomb threat was in a written note found aboard the plane during the landing process.

The Federal Aviation Administration shut down all air traffic at the airport at about 1:15 p.m. for more than 20 minutes. Abrams said the closure caused only ''minimal delays.'' The Chicago Police Department and the FBI's terrorism task force searched the plane and its luggage but no bomb had been found as of 5 p.m., said FBI spokesman Frank Bochte. Investigators were trying to determine where the note came from, including whether it was left on the plane by a passenger on a previous flight, officials said.

1. Do people who really bomb stuff make threats in advance?
I'm not being funny - I really want to know. Does anyone know?

4. Well...
...I think the Basque separatist group 'ETA' phones in a bomb threat with enough time for the people to evacuate. They say their protests are limited pretty much to property damage--they don't wish to kill anyone.

Anyone know for sure?

2. That's in interesting statement by the FBI.
Investigators were trying to determing where the note came from, including whether it was left on the plane by a passenger on a previous flight. I KNOW there's a sweep of the cabin between flights. Passengers leave all kind of junk on planes. Some intentional (like used tissues, candy wrapers, soda can tops etc) and some unintentional, like cameras, ties, jackets, and almost anything else you can think of. BUT have you ever FOUND any of those things when you got on your flight? I haven't! That's because the crew does a quick sweep of the cabin. WHY wouldn't they have found this "note" if it had been on that plane from a previous flight? I guess it depends on where they found the note. It sure sounds strange to me. Either the crew didn't do their job during the sweep, the note was hidden in some very obscure place, or it was someone on THAT flight!

3. Hi-jacking is a nostalgic threat.
How quaint is the threat: "I'm taking this flight to Havana!"
But it does serve to adequately frighten the public.
