7. One person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter...
It all depends upon where your sympathies rest.

While I do not agree with all of the tactics the IRA employed, I do resent you comparing them to Charlie Manson. The Manson Family was never a native population fighting against foreign rule.

The US calls the Kurds Freedom Fighters, while the Turks consider them Terrorists. Who is right?

11. Unfortunately, that is a common misconception...
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 02:47 PM by obreaslan
Their intention was to only act against military/governmental targets. As the years wet on, off-shoots of non sanctioned splinter groups have tarnished the reputation of the IRA.

I'm sure a people under the oppression such as that are bound to go to extremes. Unfortunately, it seems to be human nature to meet violent oppression with violence. Unfortunately non-violent protest doesn't always work when one side responds to non-violence with violence. Look at how the non-violent protest on what is now known as "Blood Sunday" was greeted by the British forces and the RUC.

10. And to think your quote says .....

"There can be no peace as long as there is ... social injustice, inequality, oppression..."

And with a picture of Gandhi??? Guess if the IRA is what you say, then he should have in your opinion "shut up and had a sandwich."

6. My brother bought a t-shirt
from a store that has a large pic of Bushs' face on it with
a swastika in the middle of his forehead. The caption at the bottom say's "Kill Me"
From a distance the swastika looks like a bulls eye.
I worry about him when he wears that shirt! :scared:
