Why is Congress not in session this week?
What reason are they breaking for now? I once went 13 years without a single day off, let alone several weeks off in a single year.

5. They need frequent vacations so that they can go back and
find out what we are thinking. We are such shy violets we never let them know what is on our minds.

If you were your own boss and had already secured over $165,000 and lavish perks for yourself for the year, wouldn't you take lots of vacation time, too?

The people be damned. Let's party! :toast:

6. I heard on the TV the other night that Congress has only been working
seven days since the Christmas break. Seven days! If we had that kind of a work record we would be out on our asses. What a good idea - throw every single one of the lazy ass bums who masterminded this schedule out.

Personally I think they are trying to run out the clock to the November mid-terms. If they don't meet the repugs can't be held accountable for all the Rove & Co.'s trashing of the Constitution between now and November. They are hiding out as much from Chucklenuts as they are their voters. They have a thousand things on the agenda to screw the American people but those items will have to be put on hold until after November. They always do this but this every mid-term year they have to start especially early due to the total outrage of Americans over this whole cabal of thieves.

Every time you are in the position to ask an elected official a question be sure and ask why you aren't in Washington doing the people's work. They will try and blather about meeting with constituents but we all know that is BS - they are hiding out hoping everyone forgets what a total disaster this administration's policies are for the country. Even freepers can understand the simple concept of not working.

I heard they were taking a week off for St. Patrick's Day - a damn week! For St. Patrick's Day - not even a holiday. They don't just take one day like the rest of the workers, they stretch everything out to weeks and months. In July they will shut down for a month and a half - if they would only pass a law that ensures Americans get as liberal pay, vacation, sick time and bennies like Congress maybe I could get on board. But until then, I expect them to work their asses off just like the rest of us.

7. Does anyone know if
committees meet during adjournments? I was checking last year's attendance -- the official number is 353 days, the actual number (if you count the weeks listed) is somewhere around 112 (16 weeks).
My roommate asked me if they meet in committee when they're not in session.
Anyone know?
