Air America Phoenix off the air Feb 1st
they are scrambling for a new home

here's the email response I recieved today

Thanks for writing. It appears that the new format will be Christian
broadcasting as of February 1st.

We are scrambling to find another station so Air America programming will
continue to be heard in the Phoenix area. Wish us luck!

Subject: Air America and your new owner

We sincerely hope the change of ownership will not effect the format of
your radio station.

It is the only station we listen to and another religious broadcasting
station is not needed here in Phoenix. Your arbitron ratings have
consistently improved with the new format and will continue to do so in
the upcoming election year.

Yours truly,

xxxxxxxx
Glendale, AZ.

2. That sucks big time!
I stream that station from work. I'm in Ohio and I can by-pass their firewalls using that stream.

Air America is "blocked" at my work. Yes, it is a County Government job.

8. They block that one too....I don't know why????
I don't want to go in and fiddle with the firewall......It drives me nutz at work. I do have a few sites I can access.

3. I guess making noise, ie the petition, rally etc will show that there is
a market here.

It is disgusting.

That last thing we need is more fundie Xtian local talk or tv.

Do we wonder who's behind this buyout??

Yes, we do.

4. I'll be lost without our local AAR!
I'm hoping for a miracle this month.
On yesterday's show Charles Goillet(sp?) said he has great hopes for finding another station to broadcast on. Many callers were very upset.
It pisses me off to think of the joy the RWers will get when AAR goes off the air here! :grr:

5. They need $$$
I just wrote them and suggested John Sperling (The University of Phoenix) as a possible backer.

7. I hope they find one. Get XM if they don't. We don't have a station
here in southeastern Virginia, but with streaming and satellite (was Sirius, now XM), I haven't missed a beat.

10. They will find another, if not, it's Clear Channel's loss
XM Radio will gladly take the business.

A roadie2 radio is like only 30 bux with the COMPLETE car kit.

and at a little over 10 bux a month, who needs the regular radio. I rarely listen anymore becuase I get more variety with satellite radio anyways.

12. They're going to have to BUY their own stations, that's what the RW and
fundies do. Right now I don't think there is one AAR station owned by AAR or owned by a dedicated progressive enterprise or syndicate. It's a battle of $$.
