Oreilly got the memo, get on board or else
"So let's cut through all the bull and grandstanding. If the Bush administration fires the Emirates company without cause, it spits in the eye of a strong Mideast ally. I hope everybody understands how dreadful that would be. The USA cannot win the War on Terror without the help of moderate Arab nations."

And the next day, " if we tell these people to take a hike just because they're Arabs, we'll lose the help of all the rest of the Arab world."

Will Bush divert funds to help Oreilly pay his harrassment suits? The only people making this a racial issue are people like Oreilly, or as I like to call them, The People Doing One Handed Pull-ups on Rove's Penis. The real people concerned with protecting America happen to be the goodguys, the others are just Bush lapdogs

1. Huh?
The USA cannot win the War on Terror without the help of moderate Arab nations."

The UAE is a moderate Arab nation? What's an extremist Arab nation?

:wtf:

3. I just thought of something
Oreilly could have been threatened, "If you don't support the sale we'll send you hunting with Dick"

6. "extremist" Arab nations are poor or otherwise unattractive to us
either they have nothing to offer, like Syria, or they do have something, but reject our hegemony over their region, like Iran.

7. Desperation
They can only call RACIST because they know that allowing ANY outside companies to own our most vulnerable assets is an invitation to the terra that scares them so much. But they have an agenda that includes being able to make billions in the Mideast and outsourcing and insourcing and so on, and this would be a bad precedent. So fuck security, when it's inconvenient.

8. O'Reilly's closet full of skeletons even has secrets
Bill has probably had prominent sections of "his file" read to him. Before there was falafel, there was likely tofu. An angry pervert like bill has a lot of dirt to hide, and am sure it didn't take many reminders of his wild, misspent youth (can you say "last year?") to convince him it was in his best interest to go along.

Brilliant!

I'm going to start using this instead of "where there's smoke, there's fire."

9. Network: "You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. O'Reilly
and I won't have it, is that clear? You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT and T, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and UAE World Ports --those are the nations of the world today!"
