Please Give Your Corporate Media News Addiction A Break Today
I've read on another couple of threads that the Shrub administration is sending out their so-called leaders today for damage control. Instead of wasting your time watching their mindless Propaganda and LIES, do something else. Or turn on a different channel. It's one of the final days for the olympics. Watch Finland play some hockey this afternoon.

You will feel much better than you will if you subject yourself to the Shit on cnn, faux or msnbc. If you want to get a recap of all the crap, tune into Countdown at 8 PM EST. You will certainly get a more liberal point of view than on ANY OTHER show you might be tempted to watch.

YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary

1. I don't have cable and I've avoided the propaganda hour
since 11/2/06 and the amazing thing is that I don't miss it all one bit.

One station in town prides itself on running the weather forecast at exactly the same time every night, so I interrupt The Simpsons reruns for that, as the weather forecast is the only part of the news that has a slim chance of being right.

5. The Simpsons
You'll gain more intelligence by watching Homer on The Simpsons, than you will from listening to King george.

2. We don't WANT a liberal pov in news - we want STRAIGHT NEWS telling us
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 12:24 PM by blm
the FACTS ONLY.

I think it's bullshit to put forth the idea that liberal news critics want to hear news from a liberal pov.

4. If you can get DEMOCRACY NOW, watch it. Great source of alternative news.

Opened my eyes to things I never thought of.

Program gives excellent examples and insight into how our democracy is being hijacked (in very insipid subtle ways) and how the propaganda machine works.

A must watch to help keep yourself intellectuality honest and mind expanding (We all truly need that with the narrow options that we have).

6. I have not watched more than 10 minutes of mass hysteria TV for 2 years
The most I have watched was this last week on the port sale. Even that was minimal.

7. I disagree, but we can agree to disagree:)
I force myself to watch and take note of their lies. Forewarned is forearmed. I love debunking their stupid statements, even if only to myself. I'm not an "A" personality type; they don't rattle my cage whatsoever. They just make me laugh:)

8. GET THE DISH......
you get 'Democracy Now' on the Free Speech Network and you get LINK TV - not to mention some university and research channels.

I just switched from DIRECT TV - DTV is at least partly owned by Rupert Murdock..... you like supporting that bastard?
And DTV supports no independent news. Just main stream bullshit.

DISH is home owned and does include good alternative news sources. I AM SO HAPPY I SWITCHED LAST WEEKEND. NOW I CAN WATCH THE NEWS AGAIN (in addition to the web).

Plus it is cheaper.....

And the features are better

and the remote is better.....

All around better....

plus one of the guys I talked to was not surprised but agreed when I mentioned that the only reason I might reneg on the 18 month commitment would be if Bush did a new 911 and declared martial law....... because I would be leaving the country.

9. I haven't watched network news, cable news, or a single . . .
talking head in over three years now . . . and I think I'm far better informed than those who choose to get their "news" and (mis)information from those sources . . .
