Just received email re: Citgo, Venezuela government
Boy, talk about something coming out of left field - er, should I say right field in this case?

Subject: Citgo gasoline company
bottom of curve

Investor Relations

C:/Documents
CITGO Petroleum Corporation is recognized as a leading manufacturer, marketer and transporter of gasoline, jet turbine fuel, diesel fuel, heating oils, lubricants, refined waxes, petrochemicals, asphalt and petroleum-based industrial products.
The company's success is due in large part to CITGO's continued emphasis on its key priorities: safe worksites for employees, environmental stewardship and a commitment to long-term financial health through strategic growth and business diversity.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, CITGO is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Venezuela Dictator Vows To Bring Down U.S. Government

Venezuela government is sole owner of Citgo gasoline company
Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century."

The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

Chavez is pushing a socialist revolution and has a close alliance with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is that we have a socialist dictator vowing to bring down the government of the U.S. And he is using our money to achieve his goal!

The Venezuela government, run by dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of Citgo gas company. Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

Take Action

Please decide that you will not be shopping at a Citgo station. Why should U.S. citizens who love freedom be financing a dictator who has vowed to take down our government?

Very important.
Please forward this to your friends and family.
Most of them don't know that Citgo is owned by the Venezuela government.

Thanks for caring enough to get involved.

8. I really have no idea
It's on my yahoo account, I guess it's someone I talked to a long time ago - I didn't even recognize the name. I did get a chuckle out of the whole "he wants to take down our government" part.

14. American family values association online

First I saw of it about two weeks back Repuke e-mail from the Reverend Donald E. Wildmon. This appears to be a condensed version. The original disses Cindy sherhan and Harry Belofonte, and ask for a donation to protect "family Values". Next I heard the house rethugs were all denouncing Chavez as a commie for selling fuel to the North east elderly at a discount.

This letter probably has many knock offs. Don't go to the values site unless you need confirmation that RW fundies are idiotic. My reply to sender was a Reply to all..... Great buy your friggin gas from the Saudies, our real friends. The nerve of this a$$ hole for helping the American elderly, evidently he failed to get the memo.

provided heating oil for poor families that our government refused to help?

How much would you like to bet that this person is in favor of signing over port security to a nation whose leaders have long standing ties to Bin Laden?

6. question...
Is a "dictator" someone who's been elected by his people in a democratic election by an overwhelming majority, and who's currently polling at somewhere around 80%?

The dictionary definition seems to apply more to someone a little bit closer to home, who will remain nameless...

"2: a ruler who is unconstrained by law 3: a person behaves in an tyrannical manner"

11. War is peace, up is down, democratically elected leaders are dictators.
I think that's the post-9/11 paradigm.

7. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!
He wants to bring down the US gov't - Right. It's more like he wants to ward off the US Gov't from interfering with his nation and its oil!!!

This is exactly why I always get my gas at CITGO, rather than from companies whose oil comes from teh Middle East. Hopefully someday, I won't have to buy any at all....

10. I do believe Chevez vowed to take down the US Empire. Not the same
thing as the US gov't. Plus, he isn't a dictator - he was legally elected by his citizens - which is more than * can say. As for our money - he can sell his oil anywhere. I wonder if many people will do this? Maybe Florida can become a colony of Venezuela.

12. "Regardless of your feelings" about Chavez
he's supplying cut-rate heating oil to the poor in the US. Guess that makes him a socialist and wanting to bring down the US? If bringing down the US means helping poor people make ends meet then I guess that's what Chavez is doing to this twisted way of thinking.

15. Plus, CITGO is terrorizing poor Americans with cheap heating oil
instead of ripping them off like the patriotic American oil companies are.
