5. I think you may be right -- several are in Florida and on Gulf Coast
smaller ports from what I've heard and none on the west coast (I don't think).

7. I don't know, but hopefully KO will say which ones.
This whole idea is f**ked up, and if it's 21 instead of 6, it's even worse. Living in Seattle, I really don't want the UAE or ANY other country to police our ports. And even if Seattle ISN'T on the list, it still pisses me off.

UAE terminal takeover extends to 21 ports

http://www.upi.com/SecurityTerrorism/view.php?StoryID=2...

By PAMELA HESS
UPI Pentagon Correspondent

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- A United Arab Emirates government-owned company is poised to take over port terminal operations in 21 American ports, far more than the six widely reported.

The Bush administration has approved the takeover of British-owned Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. to DP World, a deal set to go forward March 2 unless Congress intervenes.

P&O is the parent company of P&O Ports North America, which leases terminals for the import and export and loading and unloading and security of cargo in 21 ports, 11 on the East Coast, ranging from Portland, Maine to Miami, Florida, and 10 on the Gulf Coast, from Gulfport, Miss., to Corpus Christi, Texas, according to the company's Web site.

19. News Hour reports 60% of US Army equip passes thru Port Arthur, TX
Port Arthur is operated by P&O, soon to be DPW. Do we want a foreign nation to control our ability to ship military hardware overseas?

24. Ports in Baton Rouge and New Orleans are included in the deal
that would give DP World control of the lower Mississippi River. FYI-The Port of Lake Charles is also included. This is one heck of a mess.
