Ron Paul, who is my rep, is really a libertarian, has been quite outspoken against the war. Still a wingnut, but not wrong on everything, and probably not a crook.

22. It is a shame
many of us begged her to change parties. She might still be in Congress if she had. At the time she lost I lived in Northern VA so wasn't in her district - but across the river - but I have many friends in her district and they voted against her despite the fact that they really lkiked her but voted against her because of her party. Tough one because most of the friends I'm referring to are women and as women we want more women in Congress.

43. Although Connie was not in my district in Maryland, I still had
very mixed feelings. She was fabulous, and voted often against her
party because she truly represented the people of Maryland. I appreciated
her long years of service to our state.

It appears that Chris Holland, her Dem replacement, is doing a good job on the Hill.

Ms. Morella is suffering the consequences of Bush- some "uniter."

16. Every single Oregon Congressional Democrat is on that list
Senator Wyden, Reps. Blumenauer, DeFazio, Hooley, and Wu.

We are the only state to achieve this record as far as I know.

And looking at that entire list, it strikes me that these Congressional Democrats (and the handful of Republicans who joined them) deserve our thanks and support. They listened to us when millions of we Americans and others worldwide took to the streets to try to stop this disaster from happening. Nearly all Republicans and far too many Democrats reacted with scorn and ridicule and told us we were unpatriotic. They mocked us.

Personally, I'll never forgive a single one of those treasonous bastards who dared call us un-American for refusing to swallow the propaganda blitz employed to sell this phony war. Unfortunately, that list is much, much longer than the list in the original post.

Let's help change that in November.

for any who doubt it.

Might be worth passing around to any Republicans who admit their dismay at how the Iraq War is going.

23. Indeed it does point out the stark difference
between the parties. So many people (indluding me) have forgotten, over the years, the number of dems who opposed the Iraq war. They did so under considerable pressure in an environment not far removed from the events of 9/11. The vote took place about a year (14 months) after that. I believe I'm correct in stating that just under half of Senate dems voted nay, (yes, I wish it had been more, but still....) and the majority of House dems voted against it.

We criticize dems a lot, and most of it's deserved, but this vote was a huge deal, and many in the party came through.

25. Yep. "Group blame" is prevalent
I'm perfectly willing to criticize a Democrat for wrongdoing, but those who write "I'm never voting for a Democrat again..." simply because they SOME Democrats voted the wrong way on some issue or another are engaging in group blame which is always wrong.

That list of poiticians you posted is a hell of a lot of elected officials who represent beaucoup people here in the U.S. of A. - for sure!

Now we got all those politicians who represent beaucoup people saying BS to the "SHRUB FIASCO" which I truly agree is a free-kin disaster from the start.

Got to ask you this cali, no disrespect to you - serious on that! Why the hell is this "SHRUB FIASCO" still rolling on and on with so many against it?

Are words enough from our elected politicians? I really don't have an answer cali - hoping you can help me out here! How the hell do we end this Neocon BS - not in 5 years but now?

Hang Tough~

39. I don't know, Bammo. It's a good and serious question
though. I'll give it a shot. Once the war started, I suspect that the majority of those who voted against it felt that they had to support the soldiers and the their efforts. Now, three years later, it's time for those folks to unequivocally state that the war in Iraq has failed, and to start offering solutions aimed at bringing this disaster to an end.

That was in ADDITION to thanking those who voted against the bill and who were fortunate enough to sit out the negotiations.

Kerry was only ONE of a small number of lawmakers who took on that thankless task.

I dare say that none of you wanted a bill that had NO weapons inspections and furthered miltary action into Syria and Iran as Bush wanted. Yet few would even acknowledge the efforts, let alone thank those stuck negotiating those points.

And, even when unpopular, facts and truth never change.
