Good news democrats!

Link: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/February%20Dailies/Dubai%20Ports.htm

Snip: < February 24, 2006--Just 17% of Americans believe Dubai Ports World should be allowed to purchase operating rights to several U.S. ports. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 64% disagree and believe the sale should not be allowed (see crosstabs).

Just 39% of Americans know that the operating rights are currently owned by a foreign firm. Fifteen percent (15%) believe the operating rights are U.S. owned while 46% are not sure.

From a political perspective, President Bush's national security credentials have clearly been tarnished due to the outcry over this issue. For the first time ever, Americans have a slight preference for Democrats in Congress over the President on national security issues. Forty-three percent (43%) say they trust the Democrats more on this issue today while 41% prefer the President. >

And remember Rasmusseen always has Bush higher than other polls.

2. On "national security issues..."
I agree, it's hardly "the first time EVER," but it could be the start of a turnaround from their 30+ years of propaganda portraying Democrats as "weak" and themselves as "strong."

4. Preferred to handle national security.
I hate to say it. but it's true. Dems have always been seen as "soft on security issues". I think it has something to do with Dems preferring diplomacy and negotiation to WAR!

7. It's because the republicans always are too quick to go to war
That's their "happy place" and they don't give a damn about the people who fight the war. Just 'oh look at me I can press the button!'

8. How many of this misadministration were chickenhawks?
Cheney said loftily "he had other priorites" rather than going to war. The sob elitist.

11. I guess that the "the first time ever" means that Gore did not really
have more of the popular vote in the 2000 election...I guess Kennedy did not win the election, I guess Clinton didn't really win the election.

3. From a gut level reaction I'd trust me over any republican
in a fight with an enemy. The republican would want to know if there was a tax incentive for them to fight. If there wasn't they'd back out of the fight. But by then they'd be dead.
