Fweeper complains most troops in Iraq talk of "Repuglicans" and "hangings"

To: Rembrandt

She can count on support from far and wide around the U.S. and from members of the Military

No, she can't.

Murtha's district is home to my parent brigade here in Iraq. National Guard, mostly labor union, all Democrat. They back Murtha to the hilt. Most troops I've spoken to all use the words "Repuglicans" and "hangings" in the same sentence.

I don't even bother talking to many troops here anymore. They are beyond redemption.

Who is this "she" they refer to that the previous poster misguidedly thought would receive support from the troops?

Also... Wait 'til they get a gander at the Democrat Iraqi war vets running for Congress!

2. Republican Irey might run against Murtha
Republican Irey might run against Murtha

Friday, February 24, 2006

By James O'Toole, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Diana Irey

Diana Irey, the Republican Washington County commissioner, is considering a challenge to U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha, D-Johnstown, the veteran congressman whose critique of the Iraq war has attracted national attention in recent months.

John Brabender, her media strategist, said that while Ms. Irey had not made a final decision on the race, she is circulating nominating petitions and is "very serious'' about the prospect of ousting the longest-serving member of the state's congressional delegation.

Ms. Irey, the only woman elected as commissioner in Washington County, referred questions about the race to Mr. Brabender.

Mr. Murtha, who has cultivated a reputation as a champion of the military during more than three decades in Congress, stoked the debate on the war with his call last year for a withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Mr. Murtha has traditionally enjoyed support across party lines in past elections, but Mr. Brabender contended that his anti-war statement had changed that.

"Obviously, he has angered some people in his district,'' Mr. Brabender said.

13. I have come to see the value in running even when you know
you have no chance

That is why Dean's 50 state strategy is so important

Name recognition

True story:
our local state rep retired after something like 30 years in our district. She was a Repug and retired because she weathered a bruising fight from a young unknown Dem who challenged her after she had run opposed for close to 20 years

She knew she couldn't withstand another fight of that magnitude. She bows out Dem wins. On the Repug side 2 political neophytes emerge. Woman gets primary nod. She loses to Dem in general. She is told - now you have name recognition run for something else. She runs for school committee even though she sends her kids to a private school and she wins.

Name recognition is priceless

Can't imagine why they'd be pissed off, can you?

Careful, don't get your head blown off now. It would take days for anyone to notice.

I guess they must be busy fighting them over here, so they don't have to fight them over there.

6. Freepers make the unfortunate assumption that our soldiers are stupid
which, of course, most of them are not. My hubby and his buddies in Iraq watch FAUX News and have a good 'ole time cracking jokes about "fair and balanced" reporting, Sean Hannity's fat ass, and O'Lielly's penchant for loofahs and falafel.

The military is turning because they aren't stupid, but freepers have a hard time understand that, because they are.

8. Support the troops except those beyond redemption? Need a bigger magnet
on the back of the ole SUV to print all that I think.

Once again, the crowd over there proves that the only single thing they are loyal to is Party. Nothing else is valued or sacred if it goes against Dear Leader

11. funniest thing about some of these posts
is that they consider a small loss by bush in 2004 as a sign that a republican will win. As if the whole past year of horrible moves by bush and disintegrating support just hasn't happened. Deluded.

19. Beyond redemption?
They are basically sitting ducks, sent to war by a bunch of greedy motherfuckers who hadn't any courage to fight when it was their turn, eating $20 baloney sandwiches so Halliburton can squeeze as much federal $$$ as it can out of the imperialism, going without body armor or proper vehicles or ammo, stuck in a hellhole even when they are 50 years old or they've been over there for years now.

Beyond redemption? Fuck that idiot. He's projecting because he finally realizes REPUKES are "beyond redemption."
