:eyes: South Dakota wow. Pro-lifers pick now, NOW of all times to bring your one-sided views about abortion to the forefront when we have the whole country up in arms about the security of our American ports. Good job. You did well with an attempted diversion.
However, since you haven't heard, abortion is still legal, will continue to be legal and this is such a private issue that you look desperate in your aversion.
While you spew your one-sided views, there are many other public, PUBLIC issues you are missing.
good grief...

The SD abortion ban was in the pipeline before the UAE port furor hit the news. I really doubt the MSM has some nefarious plot to divert the nation's attention from that issue. Believe it or not, two or more 'big' stories can hit the news at the same time without a plot to steal attention from one of the said stories. Anyway, this is a good story for our side. It demonstrates just how rabid forced birthers are.

But they wouldn't be on the progressive side of those issues, either.

That quote should be plastered in every woman's bathroom across the state. This could be the worst nightmare the GOOP could expect.
The Repugnicans don't want to make abortion totally illegal...it's been too much of a cash cow...instead they want to keep it kickin' around as a political football. These kind of Supreme Court antics...while I'm watching this closely, also are big money raisers and right now the Repugnicans need something to replace all the corporate and lobby campaign money that's drying up. Look for Mehlmann and his ogres to hatch all kinds of boogie man issues (Gay adoption is another) that right now are being used primarily as money and GOTV weapons.
While the fundies...like those gomers in South Dakota...think the national party really cares about "the unborn" (isn't it obvious when they kill all types of health funding for the mother) that the big boys in Washington really want this issue to be "resolved". But then neither does NARAL (ask Jane Hamsher on that one).
It's time not to run away from this attack on Roe but take it head-on. Let's stop being afraid of showing women what a country back in the 1950s is like and really show them. Let the women in South Dakota know they've become second-class posessions and force the Repugnicans to defend this position...they can't. Then, force them to provide quality care for the "unborn"...which would mean the taxpayers of the state picking up the entire tab for the woman's pregnancy as well as the infant's first two years of care. Now wouldn't that be what "right to life" is all about?
The right wing rhetoric is potent when it's not enacted...let's force their hand...they'll lose the women vote for decades, just like they've lost the blacks and hispanics.
Cheers...
