1. Cuellar has virtually no volunteers in Bexar County
Apparently he is paying all of his block walkers and phone bankers. Not surprising considering he's not from South or East San Antonio to begin with.

Ciro, OTOH, has lots of volunteers.

The big thing to watch is going to be what happens on primary election day in Webb County and Zapata County. If the election is stealable, these two counties is where it will happen as it did 2 years ago.

Ciro and "special interests". HA! I can assure you as a southside San Antonian that that trying to associate Ciro with "special interests" has absolutely NO impact here whatsoever. Most people will laugh because Ciro has always been de la gente!

2. thanks for the report
its almost like some politicos think that constituents are a "necessary evil" that really ought to go away - and that the interests of constituents are just ... inconvenient. :eyes:

3. Another thing that is getting out on the streets
Edited on Sat Feb-25-06 10:55 AM by Gman
whether its true or not, is the persistent rumor that most of Cuellar's funding comes from drug money. This rumor has been around for at least 2 years within political circles, but its now making its way down to the street level.

I don't know if the rumor is simply because Cuellar is from Laredo or otherwise. But a lot of people feel very strongly that it is true.

4. rumours like this
generally only keep circulating when there is an already persistent sense of 'unease' among some with the figure - as in - it isn't easily dismissable - and while it may be hard to pin down what the distrust or illeaseness is based on - glomming onto and repeating such a rumour gives the individual repeating it the sense that the illease is justified. This is why whisper campaigns, sadly, can be so effective (as rove has found.)
