How would the koolaid drinkers react if Bush started to just execute... |
|
...liberals?
There's been so much effort to paint liberals as the evil enemy that I doubt they'd even react if Bush started having liberals shot in the street. I can imagine some koolaid drinker responding with "they should have done this long ago to protect our safety - liberals are traitors!"
Does the koolaid go that far? Would the koolaid drinkers just shrug if Bush started a Stalin-like cleansing of political opposition? Or would they react like they're doing on the ports thing?

Pretty strong stuff, that koolaid. What do the psychology experts here say about mass hysteria?

Obviously, the liberals are a much greater danger than we ever thought, or such drastic measures would not need to be taken.

3. They would be horrified |

and angry and take to the streets.
I know many conservatives that consider liberals "the loyal opposition" and they would be devastated at that turn of events.

I know conservatives too, who would never put up with this. Although there are some who would....
Fox News seems to want this type of thing to happen, for the hateful rhetoric they spout everyday makes me wonder if this is their agenda.

They're cowards. They're the people who trade civil liberties for security. The people who want a daddy President who's above the law, so he can protect them.

14. Sadly I have to agree with you. I did shut up one Freeper type on |
|
another board after he called me a traitor one too many times. I told him that traitors during war time should be shot, that since he thought I was a traitor, he needed to come and put a bullet in the back of my head. I'd load the gun for him and get down on my knees. He sputtered and has never called me that particular name again.
But you are right, they are cowards.

9. If you want to control a country you first have to divide |
|
the nation into opposite camps. People with a long history of working together for the common good have to be taught to distrust, fear and eventually hate each other. Once you accomplish that, nothing is out of the question. The heightened arrogance of the Bush administraion of late tells me that they believe they have reached that goal.

11. I heard Micheal Savage say that Liberals need to be rounded-up |
|
and put in detention centers. He then said that it WILL happen, "mark my words".
A couple of days later, the news was announced about Halliburton's contract to build detention centers.
Then, came the cry for action against the "fifth column". And this on top of "Operation Cyberstorm", the subpoena's for Google, Yahoo, and MSN databases, and the NSA warrantless wiretapping.
Take that for what it's worth.

12. It's highly unlikely that Junior is going to execute Liberals |
|
A Stalin-like cleansing of political opposition is about as likely as Russia invading the United States and Putin becoming the President.
The ports deal is very disturbing and it should be scuttled.

13. Trouble is many of those liberals would be their neighbors |
|
Now some neighbors everyone would want shot, regardless of politics :). But most folks who have liberal neighbors would probably recoil at the prospect, especially those who go to church. I've had many a fundy church goer praise me and my husband about "what good Christians" we are-we choose not to explain our faith to them. But these folks are more simple than deluded. They swallow whole stuff that happens far away, but when it comes to what is happening in their own back yard, to their own neighbors, they are more savvy. At least I'd like to think so.
And I so have something to back up this view. In 1994, there was a big controversy here over clear cutting the National Forest. The local Wildlife Association had some of the locals convinced that the contracts awarded would go to big corporations and not help local mill owners (which was the truth)-until the big corps brought in propagandists and turned many locals against us. Tempers got hot and one night a drunk from down the road came to our house, loaded gun in hand, ready to shoot my husband. Hubby talked calmly to him, and casually mentioned that he worked for a local sawmill. The drunk saw the light, realized that our signs and protests were actually fighting for the local economy, and he left.

Savage and Coulter and people like them WANT to do to us what Hitler did to the Jews. They say it all the time. Conservatives would cheerlead such an action by Bush.

17. Very few would care if, instead of dissenters, BushCo™ was.. |

executing terrorists. The round ups will be accompanied with stories that these people were engaging in activities intending to lead to the overthrow of the government. And, in some cases, the story will be that those arrested were in contact with Al-Quaeda, or were collaborators. And, in still other, cases they'll be "drug busts", or they'll claim that those disappearing were involved in a child pornography ring. The main reason, though, that most people won't say anything is because they don't want to be next.

18. Interesting Question. |
|
If the past is any guide I think they would cast themselves in the role of holocaust deniers. Just say it never happened and remain willfully ignorant despite the evidence.
Conservative minds are well trained at shutting out the unpleasant and unflattering truth about their leaders. The worse it is the harder they cup their hands around their ears.

They would do nothing. The round up will be accompanied by the usual media-foolery explaining it all in a way that four year olds can understand. It will be done to make america safer. As long as the population is passive, the program will not be public, it will be behind the scenes. Executions won't be in the public square, at least not at first. We don't even have a public square. I suppose they could use the mall.
Who said one damn word when the Japanese were rounded up?
Who did anything much when the palmer raids sent thousands into prison without charges?
When McCarthism was rampant people shut up.

20. Excluding Man Coulter, everyone else would be up in arms |
|
and at any rate, who would Bush get to obey an order like that?
One of the basic tenets of the real right is distrust of government. Even the dumbest of the dumbest of the rightwingers knows that once the executions start it'll only be a matter of time before the forces of THE ENEMY come for them.
Even internment camps could set off a revolt in this nation (it wouldn't be a civil war because it would be people against an illegitimate, unconstitutional gang of traitors).
ANyway, BushCo wouldn't bother. No money in it.

22. How would we feel if we could eliminate the right-wing nuts? |
|
Putting the shoe on the other foot: what would we honestly think if somehow the right-wing loonies were being eliminated?? Be honest now. Stop and consider the damage they have done to this country. I think we might be rejoicing in the streets. The world would be ever so much more pleasant and peaceful! No more Rush, O'Reilly, Fox Propaganda, etc. They're nothing but a pack of war-mongers, bigots and racists. Just telling it like it is, folks.
