"Mrs. Henderson" talking about her son who died in WWI, while standing in front of the rubbles of the blitz on London.

Sure, we know of many examples of wars for independence where war casualties were not in vain. But these words, uttered these days by the wonderful Judy Dench, did cause a stir in the darkness of the movie theatre.

1. I like this quote, in Antonio Negri and Michael Hardt's "Empire"
We want to destroy all the ridiculous monuments "to those who have died for the fatherland" that stare down at us in every village, and in their place erect monuments to the deserters. The monuments to the deserters will represent also those who died in the war because every one of them died cursing the war and envying the happiness of the deserter. Resistance is born of desertion.
