NYT- Bush Violated National Do Not Call Registry
The New York Times today said they have conclusive evidence that President Bush violated the 'National Do Not Call Registry'. A spokesperson for the Times, who asked not to be identified, said they have a person willing to testify that the President did knowingly violate the Registry. Gertrude Reems of Chicago said she was just sitting down to eat on April 1st 2003 when the telephone rang. The caller asked Mrs. Reems if she had Prince Albert in a can. Reems said she would have to check and asked who was calling. The person on the other end was laughing hysterically and said, "Why this is President George W. Bush you old coot", and then hung up. Reems, a lifelong democrat, said she doesn't think she'll ever be able to forgive the President for not waiting to find out if she had any Prince Albert.

1. This calls for congressional oversight!
What a shameless display of contempt for.. uh... the 'Do Not Call Reigistry' Bill.

Shocking!

3. Not true. Prank calls are protected as free speech.
This was decided in the landmark case "Town of Springfield vs Simpson" in 1996. Prank calls are protected as free speech and as part of any US citizens "Pursuit of happiness," at least so long as they do not in any way constitute an attempt to profit monetarily, and would at least provoke a snort of laughter from the average 10 year old, bright yellow colored, spikey haired boy.
