Newest right wing talking point - Hysteria |
|
That's what they are saying the Dems are about the ports deal, according to This Week on ABC.
No worries, pukes. UAE changed after 9/11. George said "You're either with us or aginst us" and UAE decided "We're with ya, George!" So now they are fine and trustworthy and ripe to be the Port guys.
Bravo for todays stupid shit spin.

1. Love they are spinning this into "racism" "hysteria"... |
|
Further inflaming the repubs who are pissed off about this.
About time those rednecks get a taste of their own medicine they dished out... aligning themselves with corporate whores all these years.

3. They said this was the Dems Terry Schiavo moment re hysteria. |
|
Let's see - the public was strongly against what the GOP did in Schiavo. The public strongly disagrees with BushCo on the ports deal.
I have seen a lot of calm, measured arguments by many Dems, not hysteria.

17. Whoops, Canoffun has it and George Will said the Repubs were |
|
having a Terri Schiavo moment, not Dems. For some reason, I thought they said that about the Dems. Perhaps one of the other panelists did or else I just wasn't paying attention well enough. http://www.canofun.com/cof/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=17184

4. The Bush White House no one to blame but themselves |
|
Since 9/11, they have fanned the flames of nativism, xenophobia and racism. They have encouraged and tolerated it among their own supporters, and now it is coming back to bite them in the ass when their corporatist/globalist agenda collides with the base of their party who hates Arabs and Muslims.
For the record, I oppose having our ports run by a ferners, whether they be Britsh, Canadian or Arab.

7. They can have our ports if they let us house military |
|
Using UAE as a base to launch offenses at Iraq.
I guess that was the deal.

13. Agreed. I'm a German native who made my citizenship... |
|
and I don't want any foreign national company running our ports, airports, railways or highways. Just too risky...you never know in a given situation where the loyalties may fall!

16. The same can be said of private U.S. companies. |

Although it's a safe bet that profit-motive will trump national loyalty almost every time.

that would mean -they're- becoming hysterical. I can believe it; a lot of $ is riding on this deal.

15. It's mostly Republicans doing the screaming |
|
Dems are pretty much watching from the sidelines, as they should be on this issue.
When hit with hypocritical charges like this, talk-show Dems have merely to turn them around to the truth and say that 1) Democrats are calmly trying to check this deal out first 2) it is Republicans that are screaming about this - check your mail 3) so nice try shifting the blame onto us but you're not fooling anyone about who is hysterical
What's more to note is that Republicans don't hesitate for one second to attack and cast aspersions, while Democrats are always trying to be so very circumspect.
I'd love it if Democrats everywhere would just start calling these people "liars", "cheats" and "thieves", and talk about how they left this country open to terrorist attack in 2001 so why should we trust anything they say about national security.
I like this line: 'Don't accuse us - we realized how bad Republicans were on national security back in September of 2001.'
