RE: Dubai Port World, 'State Owned Corporations' and the GOP
Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 12:29 PM by Trajan
One factor of this whole debacle NOT being mentioned: DPW is a government owned entity, a concept that goes ENTIRELY AGAINST the principles of a 'free', private enterprise system that libertarians and conservatives usually insist MUST be adhered to ...

Yet there is not one peep in the media regarding the centralised, state-focused ownership of this corporate entity .....

Why ? ...

WHO is benefitting HERE from using a 'socialist' corporate framework ?

Shouldn't the GOP knuckleheads be OBJECTING vehemently about this ?

2. What's Tom Delay's role in all this?
Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 12:52 PM by IsItJustMe
Can't believe that a shady deal, like this, is going on and Tom Delay don't have his stick fingers in it somehow?

Any Abermoff ties?

These guys are missing out. Time to get the gang together now.

3. Yes that fact among others are conveniently being left out of discussions
The fact that Dubai owns part of DPW
The fact that Bin Laden was in Dubai right before 9/11
The fact that money was funneled through Dubai banks to fund 9/11
The fact that some of the hijackers came from Dubai
The civil rights abuses of women that take place in Dubai
Dubai is not a democracy but rather a totalitarian state.

This is not about Arabs, it about a government owned business who has had ties to known terrorist running ports in the United States.
No matter how much the regime claims that there is no security risk, they are full of shit. There is no way our government can protect the ports now, what happens if this government who they claim has changed since 9/11 decides to make a new alliance with bin Laden?
BOOM!:nuke:

4. actually I've heard several people object to that...
.....mostly Democrats bring it up.

Every time they compare the Dubai company to the British company, that's when they point out that the difference is the Dubai company is govt owned.

Mostly it seems like it's not a big deal to Republicans..........they seem to be more bothered that it's an Arabian company.
