Martin's way....
yesterday in the State of the Black Union, Tavis Smiley gave Farrakhan the floor. Farrakhan made a fiery speech, one shot through with appeals for the total destruction of the system. While I agree with Farrakhan that there is much in the nation that is misguided and wrongheaded, I don't believe we need to totally destroy it. Yes, we need a revolution, but we don't to need to "let the house burn" to the ground. Subsquently, Harry Belafonte responded with great love and respect to Farrakhan, stating that he has a right to be heard and a right to his beliefs, but that he thought that it would be best to use "Martin's way."

I am a middle-aged white woman married to a West Indian man. I've seen fear and prejudice in both worlds. I have also seen poverty and hopelessness in both worlds. I appeal to my fellow DUers to read and help implement the Covenant that Tavis unveiled yesterday. I appeal to you to make our Dem leadership accountable for it's promise to implement it. I appeal to you to chose "Martin's Way" and to extend the policy and practices proposed in it so that they are universal. For that is what Martin taught. His next big fight was to fight for the poor, who come in all shades under the sun. Let us chose "Martin's Way" for the Democratic party. If the party cannot step up to the plate, then we will know that its choice is not with the people. If that is the case, so be it. However, I appeal to you to carry on in "Martin's Way."

1. I believe in Martin's Way
It's a hard path to follow, the world tries so hard to make us respond with violence and hatred. I am trying not to hate. I am trying not to be consumed with fear.
I weep when I think of the good Reverend. We were cheated out of so much when he was murdered.

3. You'd no doubt get a lot more compliance with your request
if you'd include a link.

Got link??
