Another fucking idiotic rightwing email: |
|
AS IF a snowstorm in lightly-populated, mostly-farm Dakota is the same thing as having a CITY get flooded...I think I need to add this guy to my block list.

---------------------- North Dakota News
This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of North Dakota after the recent snow storm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WEATHER BULLETIN
Up here in the Northern Plains we just recovered from a Historic event --- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* George Bush did not come...
* FEMA did nothing....
* No one howled for the government...
* No one blamed the government
* No one even uttered an expletive on TV...
* Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit
* Our Mayor's did not blame Bush or anyone else
* Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else either
* CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snow storm
* Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.....
* No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House....
* No one looted....
* Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something
* Nobody expected the government to do anything either
* No Larry King, No Bill O'Reilly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera
* No Sean Penn, No Barbara Streisand, No Hollywood types to be found And...
* Nope, we just melted the snow for water
* Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars
* The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny
* Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snow bound families
* Families took in the stranded people - total strangers
* We Fired up wood stoves
* Broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns
* We put on an extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die"
* We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sitting at home' checks.
* Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early...we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

5. fucking idiot. As one who's lived through bigass blizzards.. |
|
....I will tell you this is the rudest case of apples and oranges i've seen in a long time. In the first place, people were able to get to their warm homes, with plenty of food and heat, long before the storm hit...even if some did lose power for a time. there are about a million other stark contrasts but consider this one:
ABOUT 3,000 PEOPLE LIVE IN WESTERN NORTH DAKOTA, YOU FUCKING FREAK! They all just went home to ride out the FUCKING STORM!
I am screaming like Sam Kinison right now ... Oh, OH, OHHHAARRRGH!

We had a big blizzard for us here in 92/93 and we didn't whine or anything like that. The local TVA did a great job with getting the power back asap and we had no problems.

6. christ, ND aint got nothing on us up here in canada. |
|
we get blizzards all the time during winter. we get everything like that, and we survive our day to days fine.
We (canadians) watched Katrina in horror, to even try to compare the two is ridiculous.
So what is this clown trying to say.....
the north is tougher than the south? snow is tougher than hurricanes and even though there was no evacuation for ND, we are tougher?
fuck this bozo.

10. What's that clown trying to say? I'll tell you EXACTLY what: |
|
North Dakota is 99.9999% white.
New Orleans is mostly black.
THAT is the disgustingly racist subtext to this stupid email. Anyone who sends it around will deny that, of course, but RACISM is behind it, and we all know it.

18. You broke the code to 99% of Republican rhetoric... |
|
Yup - that's the parenthetical argument that's being made, but most other Republican positions are racist as well:
Welfare. School vouchers / destruction of public schools. Affirmative Action / even quotas. Taxing the "producers" and giving it to the poor (guess who they're talking about?) Pro-capital punishment (and don't worry about the WAAaaay disproportional number of blacks on death row) Tough on crime (and they're not talking about corporate crime - guess who they're talking about again)
I could go on and on, but it painfully obvious to me that if the people in New Orleans were white thing would have come down different.

It's a racist load of crap.
Let's inundate North Dakota with several feet of water. The Bureau of Reclamation would be demanding funding to build a new dam to irrigate the desert there.

17. What a piece of garbage. Maybe no one asked for FEMA trailers |
|
because no one lost their home. Truck drivers were able to pull people out of snow banks because the roads weren't under 20 feet of water. Families were able to take in total strangers because they weren't crammed into the attics with axes and shotguns trying to claw and shoot their way onto the roof to escape drowning. They were able to put on extra layers of clothing because they didn't have to flee their homes with only the clothes on their backs. Nobody expected the government to do anything? Who the hell do they think salted and cleared the highways?
This piece of crap is insulting to everyone in New Orleans and on the Gulf Coast suffering because of Katrina. Not too mention more than a little racist.
Well they have one thing in common with the residents of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, FEMA did nothing.

36. "Nope, we just melted the snow for water" |
|
So if these same enterprising bootstrappers had been in New Orleans during and after Katrina, they would have come up with something like this:
"Nope, we just bottled up the flood water in its entirety and shipped it all over the world as Katrina Cocktail."
