What's your prediction re: the Port controversy outcome??

Will Bush get his way after a "cooling off period?"

Will Republican and Democrats join together to draft a bill banning the deal? Can they override a Bush veto??

Will public opinion change about the idea???

3. They're Going To Give * A Pass Again On This Port Deal.....
looks like the fix is in. A 45 day cooling off period. An investigation. And then an approval. The MSM will in the next 45 days spin this to make the UAE look like the best thing to happen to the U.S. since sliced bread. The Dems will be villianized. The Repugs that came out against it will back-off. You could see that that is already happening if you watched the Sunday a.m. shows.

Then it will be all over until the next scandal - or the invasion of Iran - or the next 9/11.

Might even be someone famous this time (Britney? Paris? Nicole?) to distract the sheep while they ram this through.

17. Yup. I hate to admit it....
But I think that's likely to happen. Sure, it'll chip away at Bush's popularity a little more, but of course, we'll have the UAE in charge of the eastern seaboard.

8. Whatever the outcome, senate repubs will strengthen their hand
Bush will be weakened, but this is of no concern to the Organizing Committee. Bush is not running for re-election this year.

Even the righties will wonder if he was asleep at the switch and it will be a toss of the dice whether that distrust outweighs their racism toward Iranians.

13. My prediction...
Enough Democrats and Republicans will join together to override a Bush veto. I also think something about the deal with Halliburton will get revealed and the shit will come down on Cheney very hard. People will probably be screaming at the top of their lungs for his resignation.

Just like Social Security is being sucked dry via budget obscure provision and TIA is alive and well. This bunch never drops a juicy bone!
Also, as soon as trouble will emerge, Clinton will be blamed.

15. I'd say it has a 50/50 chance
of going through. NEVER underestimate these creeps' ability to push through their Pet projects, at the expense of everyone else.

BUT even if it goes through, they will never hear the end of the carping. There will be bitching, 24/7 about the "New Operators" and how they're risking our lives, we're doomed,

Because the odds are that something will happen, even if Dubai is a 1st class operator.

Guess who will be blamed? You got it.

Because despite all the nativist wailing and gnashing of teeth, there will be no security problems found.

20. If the Congress does not pass a law requiring ports to be OURS....
The Bush admin will sell it to a buddy or two, who will re-sell it to the UAE. The Bush Admin has been getting rich sacking our treasury. When our country is finally destroyed the top GOP mega-rich will move to another country, taking the wealth they stole from us with them.
