Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 10:34 PM by greenbriar
we are going on a cruise in March 2007

we have been on 4 western caribbean and have NEVER had to have passports before. Always before a Valid ID and birth certificate were always enough.

What does one do to get a passport?

_____opps forgot the rest

As of December 2006
all persons going into Mexico have to have a passport

off when you raise hand to swear everything is correct. we went to renew kids and we both had to go down there and id and appt. in the past we could just walk in with one parent. and swearing info on kids was correct they made me take off sunglasses i guess so they could look in my eyes. not a big deal. birthcertificate and up to 6 weeks. and cash like $60

also we got their pictures at walgreens then took them with us for passport

on edit think hubby got application off net

2. Passport Apps
Are usually found at some post offices -- you can pick up the app, have your photo taken, and get it in a few weeks. You'll need certified copies of birth and marriage certificates.

3. Here's a site for you, but remember this!
I googled, "how to buy a passport" and freaked out when I thought about it! Changed it to "how to order a passport." How paranoid is that, but is it justified?

and it is all here http://passport.state.gov/

I fill out everything online and printed out things and sent it in with my pictures.

4-6 weeks if you do it now. $60 extra $$ if you push your luck :)

:)

DO IT NOW BEFORE THE RFID clips are embedded in them

7. If it was a cruise solely for MX, you didn't need a passport
to go there and don't as I type (we got back from MX a month ago and there were 2 American guys who were allowed to fly w/birth certs. and another form of I.D.; that used to be standard ops).
I wonder if it's about $$ or security, really.
