No wonder we are in the mess we are in today, if true
just got this a little while ago, don't know how to confirm but I don't doubt it at all

What do you reckon this group of thugs belongs to

36 have been accused of spousal abuse

7 have been arrested for fraud

19 have been accused of writing bad checks

117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 currently are defendants in lawsuits. and

84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet? . . . Scroll down, citizen!

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of Idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of ! us in line.

1. Snopes doesn't debunk it, but not enough info:

2. Check out snopes. This has been around for years. Even if it
was true when originally done--back in about 1996 or 1997, I think--there was no way to verify most of the allegations then. There's no way now.

As for "bankrupting businesses"...that's no crime. 80% of startup businesses don't last 5 years.

The specifics are unverifiable. The gist is undeniable: we don't always get the best, the brightest, or the most ethical to "serve" us in Washington. We generally get the wealthiest or the most connected.

3. This is, if not exactly urban legend,
unsubstantiated rumor.

See snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/congress.htm

4. Some of those items are pretty wishy-washy stuff if you ask me.
Being a defendant in a lawsuit or being accused of something is pretty weak shit.

OTOH, drunk driving is very serious.
