1. Mardi Gras or The Olympics...not my two biggest areas of concern...
...but they've both been front page news on the CNN and MSNBC sites.

Right now, on CNN: "Not so easy: Partying after the big one" is the MAIN headline, with the lead photo.

On the little links to the right:

Blast goes off at Israeli weapons factory

TIME.com: Can Iraq hold itself together?

Dems want special counsel to probe Bush spy program

:silly:

2. Can't help wondering if they
couldn't use those massive trucks to remove some of the debris. Ah well.

4. Its been the basis for Katrina recovery stories or the lack

CNN has done a great job of keeping the pressure on FEMA to get there act together for the people of the Gulf Coast. More power to them. The story they are promoting is not a holiday celebration thats just the current vehicle to make sure the people on the gulf coast are not neglected and left to rot.

5. Agreed!
It's a way to segue Katrina stories into the news so the folks along the Gulf Coast will not be forgotten. If it takes Mardi Gras to do that, then full speed ahead!

6. Agreed, II!!
CNN is running dual track stories on the importance of Mardi Gras to the New Orleans culture and the sad of state of post-Katrina affairs for most affected by it.

CNN has definitely gone the route of Fox - trying to look and sound friendlier - but they are hanging with the Katrina outfall.

7. there's a war on easter! I am waiting for Mr. Fallafel to break it.
Nothing else going on. No civil war in Iraq, no prisons of torture and murder in Afghanistan, no falling support for Bush from within the GOP, no falling property values, squeezing the middle and lower classes, no 33% increase in energy prices, no Plamegate problems.
